Memorex SingStand review
Memorex's SingStand isn't a true karaoke kit, but those of a musical persuasion might have fun with it.
The SingStand microphone kit lets you sing and play along to your favourite songs.
It includes a mic and a stand that adjusts from 1.3 to 1.6m. Speakers are built into the base, along with inputs for two mics, a ?in jack for a musical instrument, such as a guitar, and a mini-jack for an audio source, such as an iPod (which you can mount on the stand). A headphone output is provided, so you could connect external speakers. There are controls for adjusting the volume of each input and the amount of echo.
The SingStand attempts to mute the vocals in songs, but results were mixed. Thankfully, this can be disabled. The speakers have too much bass, aren’t very loud and suffer badly from distortion. The microphone is quiet, and you have to sing into it from a very particular angle for it to register your voice.
For a traditional karaoke experience, Lucky Voice’s Karaoke Party Box is a far better choice. Despite its failings, though, the SingStand’s multiple inputs and outputs could lend themselves to some amateur musical fun.
