With great drying performance, a good range of programmes and a 10kg capacity, the Candy Grand Vita boasts incredible value for money

Pros

  • Great drying performance
  • Good programmes
  • 10kg capacity
  • Bluetooth control via app

Cons

  • Cotton Eco programme over-dries clothing
  • Rather loud

Candy is one of those brands that’s been around for decades (since 1945, if you’re bored enough to wonder), and along with Hoover it’s found itself subsumed into the Haier empire. While Haier’s machines handle the mid- and high-end market, the Candy brand concentrates its efforts on producing affordable appliances. The quality hasn’t suffered a bit: the Grand Vita GVS C10DE-10 is a superb tumble dryer for very sensible money. With a generous 10kg drying capacity, reliable drying performance and Bluetooth app control into the bargain, this is a steal at the price.

What do we love about the Candy Grand Vita GVS C10DE-80?

Easy to use: The big door swings open smoothly and makes it really easy to stuff the 10kg drum full of clothing. The controls are nice and simple, too, with a solid-feeling controller knob flicking between the clearly labelled programmes. The bright red LED display gives a clear indication of the time remaining, too.

Sensor drying works well: The Candy’s 15 programmes do a great job of automatically drying clothes just the right amount – not too much, not too little – with only the Cottons Eco programme tending towards over-drying.

Bluetooth NFC app control: This won’t be useful for everyone, but it’s a really nice touch for a machine at this price. If you’re enjoying a sit down and don’t want to physically walk into the kitchen/utility room to check on the progress, you can just fire up the app instead. That’s pretty handy in our opinion.

What don’t we like about the Candy Grand Vita GVS C10DE-80?

It’s a bit loud: The claimed 65db noise level isn’t far off the money, but this isn’t a whisper quiet option by any stretch. If you need a near-silent machine then we’d look elsewhere.

Clothes can come out a little too dry: Most of the programmes manage to strike that perfect balance of drying clothes just enough, but the Cottons Eco programme was the exception to the rule. We found that loads came out feeling a little too dry on this setting.
