Dyson Cinetic DC54 says goodbye to filter cleaning
Dyson's latest cylinder vacuum cleaner, the DC54, finally eliminates the last bit of user maintenance by removing the need to clean the dust filter
Cylinder vacuum pioneer Dyson has just announced its latest bagless vacuum cleaner, the Cinetic DC54, which is the first of its kind to completely eliminate the need to clean its dust filter.
According to Dyson, Cinetic technology works by using a bigger number of smaller cyclones compared to previous models. This reduces the amount of dust and dirt that gets stuck in the filter, meaning you don’t have to replace or even clean it to maintain the same suction performance as the day you take the vacuum out of the box.
It took a 29 person engineering team, 2,000 prototype models and 50 versions of the technology to arrive at the DC54, at a cost of £7.5 million. Compared to the existing DC39 which has 14 cyclones, the new DC54 has 54. This might not make for a significant suction increase, but it ensures you won’t lose suction over time – Dyson says you could use the DC54 for ten years without any drop in performance.
Company founder James Dyson said “Washing filters – or worse, buying them – is still a nuisance. Dyson Cinetic cyclones are so efficient at separating microscopic particles that everything gets thrust into the bin, and you can forget about fussy filters.”
After initially launching in Australia, Dyson will be introducing the DC54 to the UK tomorrow. The Animal version will cost around £459, but will also be available in multi-floor and Allergy editions.
We’re hoping to take a look at the new models in the new future, so be sure to check back and see how it compares to our current favorite, AEG’s Ultracaptic Animal.
