Amazon Echo Wall Clock finally available to preorder in the UK
Amazon’s newest smart home addition is designed to keep you on track
The Amazon Echo Wall Clock is now available for preorder in the UK and it’ll only set you back £30.
The Echo Wall Clock is a companion device, designed to work alongside your other Echo-branded hardware, keeping you up to date with all your timers, reminders and alarms.
Equipped with 60 LEDs, the Amazon Echo Wall Clock allows you to set multiple timers simultaneously. Whether you’re frequently forgetting to take out the rubbish or you’d like to keep better tabs on your cooking, Amazon’s smart clock should be well-suited to keep forgetful people on track.
Despite the included smart features, the 12-hour Echo Wall Clock looks just like your regular analogue clock in the kitchen. It’s quite small, with a total diameter of 25cm, has a smooth white bezel and comes with mounting hardware for easy installation.
The clock itself doesn’t include its own microphone, instead requiring another Echo device for interaction. Amazon recommends that the Wall Clock be paired with an Echo device within nine metres.
The setup looks quite painless, too. According to Amazon, you simply need to pop four AA batteries into the back and then sync it to your other Echo devices by saying: “Alexa, set up my Echo Wall Clock”. Compatible devices include the regular Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Plus, Echo Input, Echo Spot, Echo Show and Echo Show 5. It currently isn’t compatible with FireTV or Fire tablets.
The clock won’t just remind you to feed and clothe yourself, though. You can also set timers for meetings, morning meditation sessions and screen time restrictions for kids. Of course, it also just functions as a basic clock.
We first saw the Echo Wall Clock at Amazon’s big unveiling event back in September last year, where a number of other smart home devices were announced. The clock has been available in the US since 2018 but it’s finally making its debut in the UK for a mere £30.
If you can’t quite stretch to the $42 million needed for Jeff Bezos’ 500ft monster clock, then Amazon’s Echo Wall Clock looks to be a solid second choice. Expect a full Echo Wall Clock review in the very near future.
