Amazon reduces Kindle Fire HDX by £30 in time for Christmas
Amazon has reduced the price of its 7in Kindle Fire HDX tablet by £30, just in time to put one under the tree this Christmas
Amazon has a festive discount for anyone looking to buy a tablet in time for Christmas; the 7in Kindle Fire HDX has been reduced by £30.
That means you can buy the entry-level 16GB model with adverts on the lock screen for £169, or £179 if you prefer not to have ads. The 32GB version has been reduced to £199 and the 64GB to £229, with each jumping by £10 if you want to get rid of ads.
Amazon’s latest tablet is a direct competitor to Google’s Nexus 7, with a 7in Full HD 1,920×1,080 resolution display and seriously powerful internals. A 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM, makes the Kindle Fire HDX one of the fastest compact tablets around and easily powerful enough to play the latest games – even with Amazon’s custom user interface running on top of the Android operating system.
The discount only applies to the Wi-Fi model, so if you want to have internet access on the move you’ll have to pay full price for the 4G model. However, if you only plan on using it in the house, the discount undercuts the Nexus 7, Amazon’s closest competitor, by £30.
At the time of writing, there was still plenty of time to order and have your tablet arrive for Christmas. If you’re looking for a tablet, either for yourself or for a gift, and don’t mind Amazon’s custom interface, the reduced Kindle Fire HDX is something of a bargain.
