Nokia Sirius tablet spotted in benchmark leaks, Bluetooth certification

Nokia's rumoured Sirius tablet, which is expected to run Windows RT when it arrives later this year

It’s looking likely that Nokia is preparing to launch its first Windows RT tablet, with benchmark results and submissions to Bluetooth SIG certification revealing further information following initial photo leaks.

The tablet, which is currently using the codename Sirius, would be Nokia’s first device to run Microsoft’s cut-down tablet operating system. It was spotted on the Bluetooth SIG certification system over the weekend by PhoneArena, revealing the RX-114 model number.

This latest leak follows earlier images of the device itself, and GFXBenchmark results that also mention the RX-114 product code. These results also gave an insight towards specifications, including Adreno 330 graphics. The tablet will most likely be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, paired with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a microSD card slot for adding extra capacity.

A 10.1in, Full HD 1,920×1,080 resolution screen is expected, along with a 6-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front webcam. Unfortunately it seems that the Windows RT operating system will also make an appearance – despite other companies abandoning the OS in favour of Windows 8, which can run desktop programs as well as full-screen Metro apps.

Nokia has yet to confirm the tablet’s existence, although now that Microsoft owns Nokia’s phones division it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see the company branching out into larger devices.

We expect to learn more in the coming months, as Nokia reportedly gears up to launch the 6in Lumia 1520 handset on the 22nd of October.
