Toshiba new “AT470” 7.7in AMOLED tablet demoed
Smaller tablet prototype shown for first time
At its annual product launch event, Toshiba showed off a couple of new tablet concepts that may soon compliment its existing single model – the incredibly slim Toshiba AT200. A 13in tablet prototype was a non-functional model, but far more interesting was a rather finished-looking 7.7in device running Android 4.0.
The tablet’s own settings, rather than Toshiba representatives, identified it as an AT470. The small tablet uses a Super AMOLED display, which leads us to think it’s likely to be the same display as in the rather fantastic Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7.
The screen certainly looked stunning, with vibrant, bright colours, lots of contrast and high detail levels – thanks to a 1,280×800 resolution. The device itself was very slender, like its larger brother the AT200, but with plenty of buttons, ports and switches to make it practical as well as sleek.
Beyond that, though, there’s little more to say at present. We hope to get an official release announcement in the not too distant future, as for us there simply can’t be too many AMOLED-based tablets about.
