We awarded Amazon’s newest Fire 10 HD tablet five stars in our gushing review and it’s easy to see why: it boasts unbeatable performance and a punchy screen for its usual £150 price. That makes this reduction to £95 a truly unmissable Black Friday offer if you’re in the market for a lightweight tablet with snappy speeds and buckets of stamina.
This Fire 10 HD deal is for the 32GB model with a choice of three colours and adverts appearing on the lockscreen. However, you can get rid of these “special offers” for an extra tenner and step up the storage to 64GB by purchasing the £145 version. Just keep in mind that deals this good won’t be around forever, so it’s worth being quick.
Not a lot has changed design-wise from the previous version, but the Fire 10 HD looks the part with neat, rounded corners and an 8% lighter weight. The 10.1in IPS screen is also excellent for the price, with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 and a daylight-busting peak brightness of 498cd/m². It’s ideal for streaming videos on your commute or when curled up on the sofa.
Inside, there’s an octa-core processor that’s incredibly fast for a temporarily sub-£100 tablet: it boots up quickly and doesn’t hang when you switch apps. You’re also getting 50% more RAM at 3GB. It’s not the best gaming machine, but you should be able to play 3D titles with the settings dialed down a touch. The headline is battery life, though: the Fire 10 HD lasted a colossal 19 hours in our tests, making mincemeat of the opposition.
Elsewhere, you can insert a microSD up to 1TB for more storage and Amazon has introduced a few software tweaks, including a handy split-screen mode and hands-free Alexa. The cameras are poor, but most people will use their phones for snaps anyway.
The Fire HD 10 was one of our favourite budget tablets at £150 and is now even better at £95, or slightly more for the version without adverts. Make sure you avail yourself of this Black Friday deal as soon as possible, though.
