The Surface Go is the cheapest it’s even been on Amazon

£399 for the Pentium 4415Y/8GB RAM version

If you’re looking for a cheapish, quality Windows convertible then the Surface Go is very much the gold standard. An offshoot from the premium range of Surface Pro devices, the principal is the same: a tablet with a (technically) optional keyboard cover that turns it into an ultraportable laptop.

We liked it a lot when we reviewed it last year, though had reservations about the cheapest model, which felt a bit underpowered. The good news is that the higher-spec Pentium 4415Y model with 8GB RAM is now nearly the same price, available for just £399.99 from Amazon. That’s a saving of £110 on its original RRP, and is the cheapest price it’s ever been on the site.

To be clear, you don’t get the Type Cover for that, and while it’s technically an optional accessory, the device is only really worth having with one. You can add Microsoft’s official Go Type Cover to your basket for £82.11, though cheaper third-party versions are available if you’re looking to make savings.

This version of the Surface Go earned four stars and a recommended award when Nathan reviewed it last year. “The keyboard is truly excellent and turns this machine into a fully fledged laptop when you need it,” he wrote. “If you’re the sort of person who’s been frustrated by tablets before, because they can’t do all the things you want, then we urge you to take a look at the Surface Go. It really is a tablet like no other.”

With £110 off, it’s now ever more worthy of your consideration – though do make sure you grab a Type Cover to go with it. Without the keyboard, it’s just a Windows 10 tablet – and there’s a good reason you don’t see many of those around nowadays.
