This Surface Pro 7 deal is incredible
Only released last month, the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 is already temptingly priced
We’ve only just reviewed the Surface Pro 7 and already Microsoft has slashed the price of it. That’s the trouble with releasing new tech around Black Friday, but hey: Microsoft’s weird scheduling is its problem, not yours.
So to the deal. On the Microsoft Store, the company is offering substantial discounts if you buy a Surface and Type Cover bundle. The cheapest of these is £699 for the 3.4GHz i3 model with 4GB of RAM and a plain Type Cover (RRP: £125). Bear in mind this retails for £799 on its own so it really is a substantial discount.
Of course, that’s just the cheapest option. If you want a bit more future-proofing, you can get the 3.9GHz quad-core i7 version with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for £1,289 – a saving of £285.
There are various other configurations between those, but you get the idea. Play around and see what you come up with. The Surface Pro is a bit pointless without the Type Cover so you’ll be wanting to buy one anyway. Here, you get one free as well as a substantial discount on the Surface Pro 7 itself.
What about the hardware? Well, it’s more of a functional refresh, rather than offering any big, sweeping changes. As Jon wrote in his four-star review: “It’s added USB Type-C and upgraded the internals, too, but all the evidence points to a hybrid that’s badly in need of an update. The design is still nice, as ever, but it’s beginning to look dated.
“The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 is perfectly serviceable, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a marginal update that fails in any way to get the pulse racing.”
That might not matter to you and, at this price, I’m inclined to think it doesn’t either.
