Kindle Paperwhite and Oasis at lowest EVER prices for Amazon Prime Day
Our favourite ebook readers just got a whole lot more appealing - the two premium Kindle devices are now cheaper than ever
Amazon has reduced the prices on so many of its branded devices this Prime Day that it can be hard to keep track. Right now, though, one of the best deals going is on the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2018) ebook reader. This is the fourth generation of the mid-range Kindle and, as you’d expect, it’s superior to all those that preceded it. Better than that, it’s now the cheapest it has ever been: you can pick it up this Prime Day for just £80 – a 33% reduction.

That’s £40 lower than the standard price, and £10 lower than its previous lowest price of £90 back in the 2018 Black Friday sales. And then there’s the ninth-generation Amazon Kindle Oasis, the top-spec model of which is now £250 – £70 less than its regular price of £320. That device comes with 32GB storage, Wi-Fi connectivity, Audible integration and free 3G connectivity.

The Kindle Paperwhite is one of our favourite ebook readers for a number of reasons. For a start, it’s well priced. During this deal, that’s doubly true. It offers many of the premium features seen on the luxurious Kindle Oasis, such as waterproofing and a 300ppi resolution. That means that text looks just as sharp on the 6in E Ink Carta display of the Paperwhite as it does on the pricer, larger Oasis. The base model comes with 8GB storage, double that of the standard Kindle. And, at £80, it’s only £10 more than the normal price of the basic Kindle, so there’s never been a better time to buy.

If the Paperwhite is so good, why bother with the Oasis? Well, for sheer luxury, it can’t be beaten. Its 7in 300ppi E Ink screen uses 25 LEDs for stunning brightness and panel uniformity, while the Paperwhite has just five LEDs. It’s also the only Kindle with a side-grip for a more comfortable reading experience, and it has dedicated page-turn buttons that the others do not. The auto-adjusting brightness and warm light technology (it reduces the blue light that interferes with sleep) make it ideal for late night readers too. If you want the best that the world of ebook technology has to offer, this is the deal for you.
