This Black Friday Sony phone deal will save you HUNDREDS
The Sony Xperia 1 III is currently at its lowest price ever on Amazon thanks to a massive Black Friday price drop
While it has since been superseded by the Sony Xperia 1 IV, the Xperia 1 III is still an excellent flagship offering from Sony, with an impressive camera array and a stunning display. Our original Sony Xperia 1 III review awarded the phone a solid four stars, with one of our major quibbles being the phone’s fairly steep launch price of £1,200.
Selling at an average price of £1,116 since then, the smartphone is currently available for its lowest price yet on Amazon, at just £699. That represents a huge £417 discount, which wipes out any concerns we had about the handset’s costliness.
This is one of the steepest reductions we’ve seen thus far in our Black Friday coverage, so be sure to snap this deal up before it’s gone.
The Sony Xperia 1 III’s standout feature is its camera arrangement, which includes three 12MP cameras of varying focal lengths: a 16mm ultrawide lens, a 24mm (f/1.7) main camera and, most excitingly, a telephoto lens capable of switching between 70mm and 105mm at the press of a button, thanks to Sony’s “Variable Optical Zoom” system.
The VOS system of this third lens is a unique feature, managing to somewhat ape the teleconverter of a traditional camera lens to deliver two separate zoom ranges. In practice, these cameras render colour with excellent accuracy, capture intricate detail and offer a range of technical settings to help you capture the perfect shot.
Outside of its impressive photography capabilities, the phone also stuns with its 4K display, delivering this via a 6.5in OLED screen with HDR10 support, 10-bit colours and a high pixel density of 643ppi.
Internally, the phone’s speedy components include a 2.84GHz Snapdragon 888 chipset and a ludicrous 12GB of RAM, with the relatively small 4,500mAh battery being the only relative letdown. For those of you still keeping the old ways alive, this smartphone is also a rare recent model that retains the once-standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
All in all, the features, components and build quality on offer here make for a veritable steal at the phone’s current deal price of £699, with any reservations from our original review neatly taken care of by the more than £400 discount the phone is currently seeing.
