VoIPtalk Unlimited review

VoIPtalk is a business VoIP provider with a comprehensive list of packages and options, all clearly described on its website.

It provides pay-as-you-go and subscription options, as well as a pre-pay option that charges a flat fee for reduced call rates. Sadly, its website suffers from information overload.

If you’re prepared to hunt around, you’ll find all the features and call packages you could wish for. The VoIPtalk Unlimited package reviewed here gives you a free incoming number, a voicemail-to-email service and unlimited calling to a limited number of countries. These are mainly European countries, the exceptions being the USA, Canada and Australia.

One interesting option that we haven’t seen elsewhere is VoIPtalk’s Mobile Roamer package. This gives you a mobile phone number and lets you divert your calls to a VoIP phone, UK landline or your mobile (free for O2, Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile). Callers can reach you anywhere using a single number, and the call can be free, as networks including Orange and O2 count it as part of the cross-network minutes.

Setting up VoIPtalk on X-Lite softphone was simple. The need for a website account password and a separate SIP password was confusing, though. VoIPtalk sells hardware, and its support pages include guides for a plethora of phones and adaptors.

This service is comprehensive but expensive. UK and International rates are particularly high. If you want a simple yet professional service, go for Connexin. If you’re looking for business VoIP services, Voipfone has better rates.
