A flashy Android phablet with a massive bezel-less display, the Note 9 comes with Samsung’s own S Pen for on-the-go scribbling and a rear camera fitted with a pair of 12-megapixel sensors. Its giant 6.4in AMOLED screen is pretty special and is ever-so-slightly larger than its predecessor, the Note 8. It’s “equipped with all the flagship bells and whistles you’ve come to expect from a pricey, top-end handset.. [and is] undeniably top of its class” according to our 4-star review.
And thanks to the release of the Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e and S10+, there are even more deals available on Samsung’s older handsets so it’s a great time to snap up a bargain.

Is the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 worth it?
Similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 9 is a high-end, jumbo Android phablet equipped with Samsung’s very own S Pen stylus. While it’s nigh on identical to the Galaxy Note 8 in the looks department, the core specifications really set it apart. It’s fitted with Samsung’s Exynos 9810 and offers either 6 or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 512GB of expandable storage, depending on your budget. The rear camera is comparable to the Galaxy S9’s setup, with two 12-megapixel sensors and a variable aperture and, while it’s a pricey buy, it’s still cheaper than Apple’s recent flagship launches. We particularly like its 6.4in Super AMOLED screen, its long-lasting 4,000mAh battery and its bezel-less design. Our only reservation is the price tag, considering it’s not hugely different from the previous year’s best-performing models. If you can score a deal on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 though, it gets our vote.
Pros:
- It’s fitted with a long-lasting battery
- The low-light camera performance is excellent
- We rate the S Pen improvements
Cons:
- It’s very expensive
- There’s little on offer to warrant an upgrade from Samsung’s previous model
