Monday.com pricing: Which plan is best for tracking your team’s tasks?

Monday.com is a fresh, easy-to-use project management tool. But which subscription level is right for your team?

Monday.com is a flexible, feature-rich project management suite for teams. However, while its ease of use is second to none among project management tools, its pricing structure is needlessly confusing. A couple of tiers aren’t worth the bother, but we’d wholeheartedly recommend others. So which Monday.com pricing plan should you choose?

Monday.com’s pricing structure spans a wide price range, from free forever to a negotiable Enterprise plan. The plan we recommended for most users is Standard, which costs £9 per user, per month for a minimum of three users – “a good deal, well priced” according to our in-depth Monday.com review. But Standard isn’t as feature-rich as the pricier Pro plan, which you can try out for 14 days for free.

Below, we’ll run through the price of each Monday.com plan plus offer a quick comparison table. First, here’s a guide to choosing the right Monday plan for your business and your team – plus tips on which plans aren’t worth the bother.

Monday.com pricing explained: How much does it cost?

There are currently four paid Monday.com plans: Basic, Standard, Pro and Enterprise, with the number of features ramping up as you move up the price scale. All the paid plans require you to have a minimum of three users.

Does Monday.com have a free plan?

Yes, there’s a fifth Monday.com plan that’s completely free, but it’s very limited and can only be used by a maximum of two people. Compare that with the 15 team members who can use the free plan offered by rival tool Asana.

Rather than bother with Monday.com’s free plan, we recommend that you use the two-week trial of the Pro plan to give all its features a test drive. You won’t have to hand over any card details, and signing up takes only a minute.

How much do Monday.com plans cost?

Monday.com’s paid plans start at £7 per user, per month, and – if you ignore the Enterprise tier – rise to £14 per user, per month, paid annually. It costs a little more if you want to pay monthly, but without having to commit for a year upfront. For details on what the plans include, see below.

You can upgrade or downgrade to a different plan whenever you want, via your account’s Admin section.

Why can’t I see Monday.com’s prices in UK currency?

The Pricing page of the Monday.com website is a blog article that gives all prices in US dollars, with no option to see them in UK pounds. To see what you’d pay in pounds, you need to sign up for a free trial. This only takes a minute, with no card information required, and can be done using your Google account.

Once you’ve signed up for a free trial, click See Plans to view the Basic, Standard and Pro plan prices, with a Monthly/Yearly toggle to see how much you’d save if you commit for a year upfront:

How much does Monday.com’s Enterprise tier cost?

The final tier, Enterprise, lives up to its name with enterprise-level automations, integrations, security and governance, plus advanced analytics and premium support. However, it’s a tailored product whose price you have to negotiate with Monday.com’s team.

Given that the Enterprise tier is a bespoke plan with a bespoke price, we’ve left it out of our summary of Monday.com plans.

Which Monday.com price plan should I choose?

Here’s more detail to help you decide which of Monday.com’s paid plans is best for your business and your team. Remember that all these plans require a minimum of three users, and you can switch between them whenever you want.

1. Monday.com Basic: £7 per user, per month (paid annually)

The Basic plan includes as many boards as you like, all customisable and replete with numerous column types for tracking different elements of a task. You can also use whiteboards on the Basic plan. However, this plan lacks relatively basic functions such as a calendar view, guest access, automation and app integration. Compare that with rival ClickUp, whose completely free plan offers the same 5GB of storage you get with Monday.com Basic – plus automation.

Best for: No-one. The Basic plan is an unnecessary distraction from the Standard plan, which shows off Monday.com to its best and costs only an additional £2 per user, per month.

2. Monday.com plan Standard: £9 per user, per month (paid annually)

Now you’re talking! Standard is by far the best-value Monday.com plan, adding plenty more features and quadrupling Basic’s file storage limit to 20GB. Additional features include access for up to four guests (together billed as one extra user), and the ability to create a dashboard that contains multiple boards. You also get the all-important automations and integrations, up to 250 actions respectively per month. You get a lot more viewing options as well, with timeline, map, kanban and Gantt views to help you get a full overview of progress.

Best for: Startups, small businesses and non-profit organisations.

3. Monday.com Pro: £14 per user, per month (paid annually)

The Pro plan works out quite pricey given that you have to sign up with a minimum of three users, taking its monthly total to a minimum £42, if you pay annually (or £54, if you pay monthly). So it may be too expensive for small businesses. However, for larger firms that need the full suite of features – including time tracking and the ability to make certain boards private – this is the plan to choose. All the features of the Pro plan can be tried out for free for two weeks with Monday.com’s free trial.

Best for: Larger businesses and those needing a detailed bird’s-eye view of progress.

Why should I use Monday.com project management software?

Like all project management tools, Monday.com is designed to make working easier. Its system of colourful boards, columns and cards lets you track your own tasks, set tasks for colleagues, and monitor the progress of each job at a glance.

Project management software has become a crowded market, so it’s worth taking time to find the best fit for you and your team. Our roundup of the best project management software concluded that Monday.com is the easiest tool to use, describing it as ideal for small teams with lots of work to juggle but for which you didn’t require deep IT knowledge.

Monday.com’s ease of use is largely down to its clean, modern, colour-coded interface and highly customisable fields, which let you keep an eye on tasks, KPIs, requests and more. Your main boards can be accessed and viewed by all of your team members, and you can create as many boards as you want.

Monday.com offers a lot of freedom to use and organise your boards and their fields in ways that suit you. You can drag and drop items around, create new sublists, make new criteria, turn them into columns, and add fields for any variables you like. There are more than 200 board and automation templates, and integration with third-party apps is excellent.

Large companies with diverse teams may find Monday.com’s views a little too limiting, plus it isn’t powerful enough to give you a super-detailed bird’s-eye view of everyone’s real-time progress. But the tool is a solid all-rounder, and ideal for organisations that need to manage multiple tasks.

Our main criticism of Monday.com, in fact, is its confusing pricing structure.
