Scan 3XS Z77 FT03 Nanu review
If you want a gaming powerhouse that’ll fit your sitting room as well as a console, this PC’s for you
Specifications
4.4GHz Intel Core i5-3570K, 8GB RAM, N/A display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
There’s also a slimline Blu-ray reader, almost invisible behind a foam-lipped slot at the front of the case. It’s a great addition to this system and makes it all the more suitable for connecting to your TV for all your gaming and home entertainment needs. There’s also a built-in wireless adaptor that supports 802.11n Wi-Fi on the 2.4GHz band, although it can’t handle 5GHz-band Wi-Fi.
All of the PC’s ports are at the top of the system, slightly below the top of the case’s side panels. They’re very easy to access, so there’s no fumbling around the back of your computer for the USB port you’re sure you left empty. There’s a black plastic grille that you can use to help organise them, although we found it difficult to fit when lots of different cables were connected. Although the inside of the PC is fairly well protected against dust and fluff, you’ll probably want to dust the ports themselves with some regularity.
There are a total of 10 USB ports and six of them are USB3. There are also two SATA ports, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. For sound, there are 5.1 analogue surround sound outputs, 3.5mm stereo mic and headphone ports and an optical S/PDIF output. If you’ve got the option, we recommend sending audio through to external surround sound speakers via the graphics card’s HDMI output and an AV receiver, particularly in a sitting room setup.
This is an expensive PC and you could certainly get a similarly powerful system for a lower price, but if you’re a keen gamer who wants a powerful and well-made console-replacement PC for your sitting room, this system is a great buy.
