Asus Tytan G30 gets liquid-cooled Haswell CPUs

The Tytan G30, announced by Asus at Computex earlier today, will water-cool Intel's latest 4th Generation Core processors for extra overclocking potential

Rather than share a stage with the huge list of new laptops, tablets and hybrids on Monday, Asus revealed its Tytan G30 gaming PC at a seperate Republic of Gamers press conference yesterday. As well as switching to Intel’s latest 4th Generation Core processors, the G30 also gains liquid cooling and a one-touch overclocking feature.

Built into a gunmetal grey chassis that’s more than a little reminiscent of the Tytan CG8890 – albeit without the mechanical side panels which open up Transformer-style at the push of a button – the Tytan G30 is an imposing machine.

Apart from the two USB3 ports, two regular USBs and twin 3.5mm audio jacks, the front of the case looks rather reserved – at least until you press the I/O cover, which then mechanically opens downwards to reveal a multi-format card reader panel and a Blu-ray optical drive.

Inside, an Intel Core i7 4770K processor, previously known by the Haswell codename, runs at 3.5GHz and can Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz. Asus hasn’t stopped there though – the one-touch overclock will push it as far as 4.1GHz, on the fly without needing to reboot Windows. When engaged, the LED lights switch from blue to red to let you know you’re now in overdrive.

Graphics performance will come courtesy of an Asus-branded Nvidia GeForce GTX 780, which will easily play the latest titles at Full HD resolutions and beyond – Asus told us that the G30 will support up to three monitors in Nvidia surround, as well as 3D gaming using Nvidia 3D Vision.

We’ll have to wait to learn pricing and availability, as Asus has yet to set both. Until it does, you can watch the official announcement video below.
