Expensive with some superfluous features, but easy to use and ideal for older users

Adding contacts to the address book is as simple as typing a name and number and hitting the Save button, and there’s space for mobile, home and office numbers for each contact. Unfortunately, you can’t add speed dial contacts from the address book; you must be done in settings. You can use nine of the 10 number keys for speed dial as well as four dedicated memory buttons. It also has a Top 10 setting that lists your favourite numbers at the top of your address book.

Sending text messages is also very easy. It’s got predictive text, but for those who prefer to enter each letter individually, a small bar appears at the bottom of the screen displaying all the available options each time you press a keypad. This makes inserting numbers much pretty easy.

There’s also the option to send multimedia messages, where you can attach photos, audio and videos to your text messages, but it’s worth noting that you can’t use the PhoneEasy 614 to take pictures or record videos. You can record audio, though, which is extremely easy to do and gives you the option of sending voice messages if you’d rather not type long text messages. It has 48.7MB of storage already, but you can also insert an SD card to increase its storage capacity.

You can transfer photos to the Phone Easy 614 from your PC and display them in the Image Viewer, use them as new wallpapers or assign them to phonebook contacts. Sadly, it’ll only display the central part of the image if the dimensions don’t fit the screen, but what it does show appears bright and crisp.

Battery life was difficult to determine, as we couldn’t run our normal tests due to the lack of a video player, but the manufacturer’s figures state that the battery should last 533 hours in standby, with talk time lasting up to 11 and a half hours.

The Doro PhoneEasy 614 is a quick and simple phone. Our only major concern is its price. There are much cheaper phones out there that do exactly the same thing, but the PhoneEasy 614 is designed with accessibility and the older user in mind. If you want an easy-to-read mobile phone that’s simple to use, you should consider the Doro PhoneEasy 614.
