Nokia has revealed that the Lumia 1320, a 6in phablet running Windows Phone 8, will be launching in the UK on the 24th of February

Nokia has confirmed it will be bringing its Lumia 1320 phablet to the UK on the 24th of February, meaning anyone eager to get hold of a 6in Windows Phone 8 device won’t have to rely on imports or third-party retailers.

The Lumia 1320 has been on sale in the US and other countries for some time, but will finally arrive in the UK next month. It has a 6in, 1280×720 resolution display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor running at 1.7GHz and 1GB of RAM. 8GB of internal storage, microSD card support and a 5-megapixel rear camera are also included, as is an LTE modem for compatibility with the UK’s 4G mobile networks.

Until now, only third party retailers had confirmed they would be stocking the Windows Phone 8-powered device for UK customers; Mobiles.co.uk had the handset listed for free on contracts starting at £17 a month, while Unlocked-Mobiles had a provisional SIM-free pre-order price of £294.98.

Now that Nokia has confirmed the UK will receive the Lumia 1320, expect it to crop up in all the usual retail outlets including the Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4 U, as well as on contract from the likes of Virgin Mobile and EE.

“We are building on the continued success of the Lumia range by looking to offer the latest Windows Phone in a large-screen smartphone format at a highly competitive price,’ Conor Pierce, Nokia’s UK & Ireland Vice President, said of the launch. “The Nokia Lumia 1320 brings a cost effective addition to our large screen Windows Phone portfolio.”
