HTC Zara leaks with 4.5in screen, Sense 5.5 and plastic body
A new HTC smartphone has appeared online - the Zara looks set to have a 4.5in screen and a plastic chassis based on the One design
HTC looks set to release another new smartphone in the coming months, if the latest photo from notorious tech twitterer @evleaks is to be believed. The Zara is apparently a 4.5in handset which takes design cues from the HTC One, although it seems to be built from matt black plastic rather than unibody aluminium.
A set of stereo speakers placed above and below the screen mimic the HTC One, as do the capacitive buttons. The 4.5in display looks set to be a superLCD model, and will likely have a 960×540 resolution
According to the leak, the Zara will be powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8930 System-on-Chip (SoC), which is otherwise known as a Snapdragon S4. That’s a distinctly previous-generation chip, compared to the swathe of new handsets like the LG G2 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra just around the corner, although it should still be powerful enough to run Android – even with HTC’s custom Sense user interface running on top.
The handset will apparently run the latest 4.3 version of Android Jelly Bean, along with Sense 5.5. According to industry sources speaking to GSMArena, the HTC One Max will be the first handset to launch with the latest version of Sense, but the Zara looks likely to be close behind.
1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory are also mentioned, along with a MicroSD card slot for adding extra storage. An 8-megapixel camera at the rear appears to be paired with an LED flash and although it isn’t mentioned, a sensor of that size should be capable of 1080p video recording.
Although HTC has yet to officially confirm the handset, only telling us that it “does not comment on rumour or speculation”, the Zara looks set to be revealed in September alongside the HTC One Max.
