Teufel launches Aureol Real headphones
Teufel has launched its first set of open-back headphones designed specifically for hi-fi home listening
Teufel has launched a new pair of headphones designed for discerning music fans who want to enjoy their albums on the go as well as at home. The Aureol Real headphones are the German speaker specialists’ first open-backed set, which is powered by 44mm Neodym magnet drivers.
Teufel claims the Aureol Real is capable of a 20-22,000Hz frequency range, with 50 Ohm impedance and a 102dB sensitivity that means it “dissolves well and handles fine details expertly to create a wide sound stage”, but “deliberately avoids exaggerated bass lows” that are commonly found in over-ear headphones from the likes of Beats by Dre.
Weighing just 185g and with velvet pads covering the ear cups, the headset should be comfortable to wear for long periods without having to take a break. It comes with two separate audio cables, which detach from the right ear cup – a 1.3m cable ends in a 3.5mm stereo mini-jack, for on-the-go listening connected to a smartphone, tablet or MP3 player, while the 3m cable ends in a 6.3mm stereo jack for at-home listening through a dedicated Hi-Fi. Finally, a carry case is included to keep the headphones safe when they aren’t on your head.
Available in either black or white, the Aureol Real headphones are on sale now for £79.99 from Teufel’s UK website. We’ll be taking a closer look at the set as soon as we get one into the office.
