Amazon Spring Sale deals: Nab the Nothing Phone (1) for FAR less

The attention-grabbing, four-star Nothing Phone (1) has seen its price slashed in the Amazon Spring Sale

The days are getting longer and the Amazon Spring Sale is in the air. The bargain bonanza has already delivered some delicious deals and this is certainly no exception: the 128GB version of the ultra-trendy Nothing Phone (1) for a rock-bottom price of £350. That’s down from its average price of £378 and the joint-cheapest it’s ever been on the site. If you’ve had your eye on the unique handset, now’s the perfect time to snap one up for less.

So what’s so great about it? As we explain in more detail below, we’re big fans of its clear back, quirky LED lighting effects and squeaky-clean installation of Android. And it’s not a case of style over substance, either: its everyday performance is decent, its gaming results in our tests were spectacular, its battery life is good and its cameras take photos jam-packed with detail. It’s an ideal mid-ranger for those who want to stand out from the phone crowd.

But you’ll have to be quick because the Amazon Spring Sale deals will only last until midnight on Wednesday 29 March.

In our original review of the Nothing Phone (1), we were quite taken with the transparent back that gives you a behind-the-scenes peek at the internals. This is coupled with an LED array that the company calls the Glyph Interface, which is used as a visual (and audio) cue for notifications, as a charging indicator and as a fill light for the rear camera. It’s innovative stuff that led to a score of four stars out of five and a Recommended award.

Elsewhere, the situation is more familiar: it boasts an impressive 6.55in OLED display with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen was practically perfect in our colour tests, although it could do with having a higher peak brightness.

Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone (1) posted broadly similar single and multicore processing results to its rivals – and outdid them by quite a stretch in the gaming benchmarks. Not only will you be able to while away tedious train journeys with graphically-intense mobile games, but you’ll be able to do so on both legs of your commute because we registered the battery life at 20hrs 13mins in our video-rundown test.

Finally, the cameras take sharp, well-exposed snaps in both light and dark light conditions. The portrait mode could be improved, but having the Glyph Interface as an extra fill light is handy.
