This Pixel 6a bundle is superb value for Prime Day
£350 including free earbuds is superb value for one of the best mid-range phones around.
The Google Pixel 6a is one of the best-value mid-range smartphones you can get. With a superb camera that rivals phones that cost several times more and Android as Google intended (with day-one access to the next version), it’s keenly priced at its usual £399 RRP.
But for today’s Prime Day encore, it’s even better value. Right now, Amazon Prime members can get hold of the Google Pixel 6a in white, black or green with a free set of Pixel Buds A-Series wireless earphones for just £349.99. The bundle should cost nearly £500, but it’s somehow available for less than the RRP of the Pixel 6a alone.
If you want to splash a bit more cash to upgrade to the full Pixel 6, you can do that for £125 more. The Pixel 6 with Pixel Buds A-Series comes in at £475 — a £224 saving on the RRP. That’ll give you a smoother 90Hz screen, an upgraded 50MP camera and an extra 2GB RAM.
Both are cracking smartphones, though. And while Google has just unveiled the Pixel 7, it can’t offer the same value as what’s on offer here with its non-discounted starting price of £599.
The Pixel 6a should “be applauded for squeezing this much stuff into a handset this affordable,” wrote our Senior Editor Nathan Spendelow in his four-star review.
Why only four stars? Well, because the Pixel 6 is better and, with a nine-month headstart, not that much more expensive. But that shouldn’t take away what Google has achieved: “if your wallet simply can’t stretch past the £400 mark, then the Pixel 6a 5G can’t be beaten,” he concludes.
Now, for £50 less and with free Pixel Buds Series A in the mix, it’s a great time to find out what all the fuss is about.
