Get the Pixel 3a for just £240 at Voxi

Google’s superb midranger is now a lot more wallet friendly

The Google Pixel 3a was an easy recommendation when we reviewed it last year. It made cuts on the regular Pixel 3 in all the right places while retaining the two main trump cards: the best-in-class camera and being first in line for Android updates.

At £399 we considered it good value, even if it wasn’t quite the cheapest around in terms of bang for your buck. Now you can buy one for £240, it’s right up there with the best of them. You have to pay for a £10 Voxi SIM card, but you can cancel that after a month, making the total cost just £250.

Voxi, if you’re not aware, is a network that shares the Vodafone network. Its rates are actually pretty decent as well, especially given that its main selling point is that social apps including Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook Messenger don’t eat into your monthly data. So you might want to keep the £10 per month SIM anyway, given it includes unlimited calls and texts, with 6GB of monthly (non-social) data.

(One small caveat: phones bought from Voxi are locked to Vodafone, but you can contact the company to unlock your handset after 30 days of using the SIM card you’ll have to buy alongside it anyway.)

If £240 is still a bit too much for you, Voxi will also let you pay in installments of £8 a month which makes it pretty enticing. Yes, you’ll be paying for 30 months, but if you don’t have the cash right now it’s pretty appealing all the same.

The elephant in the room is that Google may have a Pixel 4a up its sleeve and, given the Pixel 3a launched in May 2019, a newer handset might be along to show up the older model any minute. That’s true, but you can bet it won’t be as competitively priced as this.

As Nathan wrote in his review: “There are cheaper and faster phones out there, but very little else displays as intelligent and well-rounded an approach.

At £240, it’s an absolute steal. Even ten months after its initial release.
