Save over £150 on the OnePlus 7 Pro at Amazon

Phone experts know that OnePlus makes some of the best value handsets around without compromising on components. And while the price has steadily ticked up over generations, they still represent pretty good value for money – and especially so with the kind of discount Amazon has put on the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Right now, the e-commerce giant is selling the OnePlus 7 Pro in a rather fetching ‘Nebula Blue’ for £542. Because this is the version with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage (RRP: £699) that represents a saving of over £150.

Now if you follow the world of smartphones closely, you’ll point out that this isn’t actually OnePlus’ newest handset, and that’s true – the OnePlus 7T Pro is indeed newer. But given only four months separated the release dates, you’re also right in thinking that not much could possibly change in that time.

Most things are exactly the same, in fact. The software, the triple-camera array and the 90Hz display are identical. All that’s different is processor and battery – and not in a very big way. The latter is just 85mAh larger (that’s around half a smartwatch in capacity), while the former is a move from the Snapdragon 855 to the Snapdragon 855+. What does that mean in performance terms? Very little:  
In other words, you can feel quite comfortable buying the OnePlus 7 Pro – it’s certainly not worth paying the extra £150-odd Amazon wants for the 7T Pro however you slice it.   

“Despite my fears over OnePlus going premium with the 7 Pro, I needn’t have been worried,” Jon wrote in his review last year. “While this phone is the most expensive the company has produced, it’s still good value compared with similar products from big-name rivals Samsung, Apple and Huawei.

“The OnePlus 7 Pro has a bigger display than – and as many rear cameras as – the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and the Huawei P30 Pro. It’s superfast, has great battery life and looks lovely.”

At £542, you can add “great value” to that list of attributes, too.
