Our budget favourite – the Moto G7 Power – is now just £129.95
Decent performance and a battery that goes on and on
Motorola makes some of the best budget phones around, and the Moto G7 Power remains the most impressive of the collection. It combines decent performance with incredible battery life and an even more impressive price.
That was my view at its original price of £179.99, and now you can get it even cheaper. Right now at John Lewis, you can get it for a bargain £129.95 – a saving of (slightly) over £50.
So what makes the Moto G7 Power such an easy recommendation? Well, there’s the price, clearly, but that’s just one of its selling points. When the Moto G7 range came out, we noted that the regular £240 Moto G7 offered the best phone camera under £300, and this isn’t far behind that.
The performance isn’t world beating, clearly, but it’s good for the price. The Snapdragon 626 processor and 4GB RAM keeps things ticking along nicely, and you’ll even be able to get some light gaming out of it too.
The “Power” in the name refers to the massive 5,000mAh battery it comes with – a cell that gave us a phenomenal 26 hours and 22 minutes of life from our standard test. That’s so long that it involved restarting the 20-hour clip we use for testing.
There are corners cut for this price. It has a polycarbonate back, rather than gorilla glass, and it has a 720p screen rather than a 1080p one, for example. But they were pretty small at full price: “In short, all this for £179 is a complete steal,” I wrote at the time.
Suffice it to say that at £129.95, it’s an even easier sell if you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck.
