Get a free PS4 with Vodafone’s exceptional Xperia 5 bundle

Do you miss the days when buying a smartphone would bag you an expensive freebie? Nowadays free gifts only tend to come with, uh, “less good” handsets, but clearly nobody told Sony and Vodafone, which have come up with a rather good bundle: the Xperia 5 and a PS4 on a reasonable 24-month contract.
 
For £36 per month, plus a £9 upfront cost, you’ll get the Xperia 5 on Vodafone’s Unlimited Max plan. That means you get unlimited texts, call minutes and data on Vodafone’s “fastest available speed.” Oh, and a free PS4 with FIFA 20.  
To quickly tot up the total, that means over the course of two years, you’ll be spending £873. The phone alone retails for £699 and the PS4 bundle sells for £250. Vodafone is selling its unlimited max plans alone for £27 per month at the moment, meaning all of this should come to a grand total of £1,597. So a saving of £724, then. Not too shabby.
 
That’s all well and good, but is the phone a winner? Largely, yes. It’s as powerful as any other Android beast of 2019 with its Snapdragon 855 processor and 6GB RAM. 
 
Nathan gave it four stars when he reviewed it, noting that it’s nearly as good as the more expensive Xperia 1 for considerably less money. The only issue? There are nicer Android phones available, and not for much more money. Still: “considering you can get a similar sort of experience as the Xperia 1 for just a little bit less, then the pocketable Xperia 5 is a decent choice for anyone looking to upgrade,” he concluded.
 
“Decent” becomes “exceptional” when you factor in the unlimited data and free PS4, in my book. If you’re happy with Sony’s flavour of Android handsets, then this is as good a phone deal as you’ll see this Black Friday.
