This half-price Galaxy S10e is an absolute bargain

Especially if you’re happy with the yellow colour

If you’re looking to upgrade your phone outside of a contract, but don’t want to spend the earth, then this Samsung Galaxy S10e deal could well be for you.

Argos is selling the handset for just £334.50, making it half its original RRP. There’s only one snag: it’s in the bright canary yellow colour which won’t be to everyone’s tastes, but it’s nothing a decent case can’t sort. If it really bothers you, the more tasteful green version is available for £399, but that’s ‘only’ a £270 reduction on its original price.

The S10e is the entry-level version of the Galaxy S10, but it’s no slouch, using exactly the same chip as the S10 and S10 Plus. Performance is basically indistinguishable, and there are three main differences: the resolution is lower, it has two cameras round the back rather than three, and the fingerprint reader is built into the power button rather than below the screen.

That sounds like a good set of compromises to me, and I’m actually considering the upgrade myself as I’m still labouring away with an 18-month-old Huawei handset with an uncertain future thanks to the ongoing US trade ban.

Nathan was a big fan when he reviewed it. “You’ll spot a few compromises here and there but, considering the S10e is the cheapest of the three, the fact that it still brings top-end flagship specifications to the table is frankly mind-boggling,” he wrote.

“If you’re willing to hold fire for a few months, you might begin to see the Galaxy S10e’s price plummet quite dramatically as interest in the Galaxy Note 10 begins to heat up towards the tail end of the year. As such, I’d say the Galaxy S10e is the perfect phone for patient wallets.”

Reader, that time is now. If you want a flagship experience on the cheap, then look no further.
