Free AirPods with Vodafone iPhone deals this Black Friday
An excellent excuse to splash out on Apple
Vodafone is offering a free pair of Apple AirPods with a few of its best iPhone Xs and 11 contract deals. Buying an iPhone on contract can be expensive, so you can think of the AirPods as a very nice gift to sweeten the deal.
If you’re unsure about making the switch to Vodafone, you can relax: we gave the service four stars, and complimented its new unlimited data contracts and improved coverage/speeds.
Before we continue, a word of warning: Vodafone’s cheaper contracts are affected by a data speed cap of 2Mbit/sec, which infuriatingly isn’t quite enough to enjoy streaming Netflix on the go. As a result, we won’t be recommending them.
In fact, it’s not super easy to recommend any of the contracts available. The prices are sky-high, which is hardly surprising; there’s never been a cheap contract on an iPhone this new. If you can stomach paying upwards of £60/mth for unlimited data, however, this year’s crop of Apple handsets almost warrant the price.
We reviewed all three phones very favourably, praising the excellent new camera arrangement, improved battery life and unrivalled performance. The iPhone 11 sports a dual rear camera and a colourful aluminium design; the 11 Pro/Pro Max, meanwhile, up the rear camera count to three and swap bright aluminium for sombre stainless steel.
The 11 lacks the Super Retina XDR display and advanced waterproofing of its more expensive siblings. Having said that, it is also over £200 cheaper, and is therefore the handset we recommend overall. There are also offers available on last year’s iPhone Xs, but in truth, there’s little reason to purchase one given that they are still so expensive.
The AirPods are of course an excellent pair of true wireless earbuds, and gel particularly well with Apple smartphones. This is besides the point, however: you’re receiving a £160 pair of headphones for free. There’s no better justification for splashing out on an iPhone 11.
These offers will not last forever, so if you fancy a freebie – and are looking to upgrade to Apple – we suggest acting fast.
