DEAL ALERT: Save £70 on the Pixel 3a and 3a XL

Google’s budget handsets are going even cheaper this Black Friday

Google is shaving a cool £70 off the price of the excellent Pixel 3a and 3a XL for Black Friday. These phones were already a good price to begin with – £469 for the 3a XL, £399 for the 3a – and now, with the £70 discount, they’re a veritable bargain.

For £329, you can net yourself the Pixel 3a, a phone that we described as “a masterclass in mid-range affordability.” The 3a hangs on to the excellent camera and OLED display of the original Pixel 3, settling as a compromise for a slightly less powerful processor and no official water- or dust-proofing (so don’t go dropping it in the bath).

Those with a bit more money to spare, meanwhile, might want to consider the 3a XL, a plus-sized mid-range handset that also ditches the high-end processor and water/dust-proofing of the Pixel 3 XL whilst retaining the camera and marginally decreasing the size of the display. It’s currently available for £399.

Naturally, we loved it: our reviewer wrote that “it’s a measure of how good this phone is that I’m struggling to come up with anything negative to say about it.” Like the 3a, we praised the 3a XL for its industry-leading rear camera and colour-accurate display; we also appreciated the return of the headphone jack, something that applies to both 3a handsets.

For excellent photos and a pristine Android experience on a budget, there’s honestly very little that beats the Pixel 3a and 3a XL – even though both handsets are now over one year old. We awarded both phones a healthy five stars, and gave them both the illustrious Best Buy award for good measure.

We can’t say how long this £70 Black Friday discount will last, so if you’re even remotely interested, we recommend getting a move on.
