Google Pixel 3a preorders: Claim a free Acer Chromebook worth £199
Google's mid-range handset quietly dazzled us - and they're offering one hell of a giveway with preorders
What is it with phone preorder giveaways these days? It feels like every company is trying to lure in potential buyers with a freebie of some kind, and Google is no exception. Just ahead the release of their latest smartphone, the Pixel 3a, the company is offering a pretty impressive product with preorder sales: an Acer Chromebook 11 worth £199.
Let’s call out the elephant in the room: the launch of a new Google phone isn’t exactly hair-raising stuff. The megalithic tech company has made all sorts of wondrous contributions to the world of tech, but their smartphones have never come with much of a wow factor. But, as our reviewer Nathan Spendelow concedes in his full verdict of the Google Pixel 3a, the company’s Pixel range is ‘nothing if not quietly impressive’. In fact, he goes on to admit that this mid-range phone is now one of the best in its price bracket: high-performing given the limited specs, and with a camera that almost matches that over its costlier sibling, the Pixel 3.
If you’re interested in picking up an affordable smartphone, we’d clearly urge you to consider the Pixel 3a. It’s that free Chromebook, however, that makes us urge you to get one before it hits shelves. It might be low on frills and internal horsepower, but as you can read in our review of an older model, the R11 still delivers an excellent performance if your activities mostly involve browsing and streaming. You’ll find this offer through retailers including Mobiles.co.uk and Carphone Warehouse.
Update: We’ve just discovered that EE is offering a separate giveaway – this one gets you a Google Home Hub (the company’s answer to an Amazon Echo Show, which we reviewed here).
