This Huawei P30 deal is astonishingly good value
Not bad at all for a brand new handset
We weren’t that impressed with last year’s Huawei P20, which was considerably weaker than the P20 Pro. With the brand new P30, it’s a much closer run thing: as our reviews editor Jon Bray wrote: “In its price bracket… the Huawei P30 stands alone.” That means it’s better than both the Pixel 3 and Samsung Galaxy S10e in Jon’s esteemed view: not an achievement to be sneezed at.
But £699 is still a big ask, SIM-free. Enter Buymobiles.net with a Bank Holiday weekend deal that offers an incredible amount of money for the price.
So for £31 per month, you get the Huawei P30 in your choice of three colours, with unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 20GB of 4G data each month. It’s on EE, which means you also get six months of Apple Music, three months of BT Sport and six months of Amazon’s Prime Video.
To get it for this tempting price, you’ll need to enter the code ‘H31P30’ at checkout. That’ll knock the £49 upfront cost off the device, and bring the total price of the device over the two years of your contract to £744. Or to put it another way, you’re paying £45 for 480GB of mobile data once you take off the SIM-free cost of the phone.
That feels like pretty phenomenal value to me. While the camera isn’t quite as incredible as the P30 Pro (you ‘only’ get 3x optical zoom, rather than the 5x on the Pro model), the cheaper version does have one key advantage: it retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. As a P20 Pro owner frustrated by the flakiness of the Bluetooth, let me tell you that this can’t be underestimated.
And of course, it’s blistering fast too. It has the same 7nm octa-core Kirin 9080 processor that powers the Pro model and it’s backed by 6GB RAM. Basically, this will be plenty fast enough for the duration of your contract and beyond.
