This SIM-only deal is perfect for data-hungry people with a new phone
30GB should be ample for most people, and the price is spot on too
If you’ve got a new phone for Christmas, or have taken the plunge on a SIM-free bargain in the Boxing Day sales (the Pixel 3 and Galaxy S9 have both had tempting price cuts), then you’ll need a SIM card to get the most of it.
Virgin Media has a deal that should fit all but the most data hungry. For £16 per month, you can get 2,500 minutes, unlimited texts and 30GB data. That should be enough for most (I barely get through 3GB in most months), but rather neatly Virgin Media lets you roll over your data from one month to the next too, meaning that lighter users should have a good bank of data saved up for especially heavy months.
The ability to roll data over from month to month may mean that 30GB is actually way too much for you, in which case the Boxing Day flash sale has cheaper options which may do just fine: 1,500 minutes, unlimited texts and 2GB data for £7 per month, or 1,500 minutes, unlimited texts and 6GB for £9 per month.
If you have a Virgin Media TV or broadband account, you can get unlimited data for £25 per month, too.
If you’re concerned about signing up to Virgin Media, you shouldn’t be. The company is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) meaning it doesn’t run its own network but instead piggybacks off EE’s. EE, as you may know, consistently wins awards for its coverage around the UK, so you shouldn’t often find yourself unable to use all the data you’ve carefully squirrelled away each month.
