Acer Liquid X2 smartphone could be the ultimate road warrior
4,000mAh battery and tri-SIM support makes the Acer Liquid X2 an exciting proposition for business travellers
Acer has just announced the Liquid X2, the ideal smartphone for anyone that spends more time in departure lounges than their own living rooms. With a colossal 4,000mAH battery and three SIM card slots, it’s built to cope with multiple countries and days away from the mains, which should make it seriously compelling for frequent flyers.
There’s currently no indication quite how long that sizable battery will last in everyday use, but Acer hasn’t had to make the phone as thick as a brick to make it fit – the Liquid Z2 looks a little chunkier than the svelte Samsung Galaxy S6 or an Apple iPhone, but it’s still slim enough to slip into a pocket.
Specifications are still something of a mystery, although Acer confirmed the handset has a 5.5in, ‘HD’ display and a 64-bit octa-core processor, although there’s no indication if this is one of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon CPUs. Surprisingly for a business phone the Liquid X2 is fully featured when it comes to photography, with 13-megapixel cameras on the front and back of the handset.
Despite Acer re-confirming its Windows Phone ambitions with an update on the M220, which is already running early builds of Windows 10, the Liquid X2 is an Android device, customised with Acer’s own UI skin.
It will also arrive with support for an as-yet unnamed ‘quick touch flip cover’, which adds an interactive display to the back of the handset which can be used to launch apps, check notifications and even play games.
There’s no word on whether the Liquid X2 will be launching in territories outside of Acer’s native Asia, or what the phone might cost, but we can certainly see it’s appeal and can’t wait to find out if it will be coming to the UK any time soon.
We’re hoping to get a closer look at the phone as soon as Acer opens up its demo areas here in New York.
