HTC’s Desire 510 is its cheapest 4G phone yet

HTC has announced its most affordable 4G phone yet in the shape of the Desire 510. The phone will have a 4.7in screen and will run Android 4.4. 

“The industry has been talking about the 4G effect for so long now that it’s easy to forget that only a small selection of top-end devices are taking advantage of the technology,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC. “Owning the latest and greatest technology shouldn’t be reserved for those with the highest budgets. People today should expect their smartphones to double as mobile entertainment hubs. This means ensuring that they’re fully loaded with the latest movies, TV shows and albums, by taking advantage of the super-fast network speeds available. The HTC Desire 510 does this and more, making it the perfect mobile media device.”

To help take advantage of super fast 4G speeds, the Desire 510 will be powered by one of Qualcomm’s latest quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processors. It will also come with 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card. This is a big step up from the usual 4GB of storage we see on most budget phones and gives you plenty of space to store your files.

As with all HTC phones, the Desire 510 will use HTC’s Sense UI and come with HTC’s BlinkFeed app, which aggregates all the latest news from your social networks and favourite sites in one location. It will even be available with its own Dot View case, which so far we’ve only seen on the high-end HTC One (m8). This lets you answer calls when the case is closed and you can customise the case with 18 different themes to create your own dot matrix wallpaper.

The Desire 510 will be available in white, grey and blue and will launch in September for £149 SIM free, making it HTC’s cheapest 4G phone so far.
