EE adds Kite Wi-Fi dongle to its 4G aviary
The pocket-sized Kite is now available to buy in store and online at EE
EE’s series of avian-themed own-brand devices has expanded to include a portable 4G Wi-Fi dongle in the shape of the Kite, which is available to buy from EE stores, online and over the phone from today. First announced in May alongside the EE Eagle tablet, Buzzard in-car Wi-Fi dongle and Osprey 4G hotspot, the Kite is a more pocket-friendly way to get online when on the move and is available for free on a two year contract.
Unlike its larger, more brightly-coloured brothers, Kite is finished in black and is aimed more towards professional users. It’s available on both monthly and pay-as-you-go plans, and will be free on 24-month 4G EE and 4G EE Extra plans as long as you spend more than £15 per month. Pay-as-you-go customers, on the other hand, will have to fork out £70. Existing customers will also be able to add the Kite to any of EE’s Shared Plans so they can use it with their tablet or laptop.
Kite joins Buzzard and Osprey in the own-brand EE line-up, which have both been available to buy since the end of May. Each costs £39.99 with a 30 day 4G EE SIM, but are available for free if you’re prepared to sign up for a longer contract. All three devices support EE”s faster double speed 4G, assuming you’re paying for the more expensive service.
You’ll be able to use all three devices in more locations from today onwards too, as EE has confirmed Saltash in Cornwall as the latest addition to the network. It brings EE’s total 4G coverage up to roughly 73% of the UK population, covering over 250 towns and cities across the country.
