The best Black Friday laptop deals of 2023:
1. Asus Chromebook Vibe CX34 Flip (was £699, now £399 with code VKEZW)
The Vibe CX34 Flip is one of the latest breed of Chromebooks that’s aimed at subscribers to games streaming services and, as such, it includes a lineup of features that would be more at home on a gaming machine. It has a 14in, 144Hz, 1,920 x 1,200 resolution touchscreen, an Intel Core i5-1235U CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, all of which mean it’s not only great for online gaming, but also for pretty much everything else. The best thing, though, is that it’s currently on offer on Cyber Monday with the price reduced to £499 from the list price of £699 at Very and you get an EXTRA £100 off if you apply the code VKEZW just before checkout, too.
2. Apple M2 MacBook Air (was £1,089 avg, now £1,029)
We love the 13.6in M2 MacBook Air. It has amazing battery life that beats any of its Windows rivals, it’s beautifully designed and performance is very, very good indeed. Add a superb 13.6in IPS display 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD and you have one of the most desirable portable computers that money can buy. This price might not be much of a discount off the average Amazon price but it is £110 less than the price at the Apple store.
3. Samsung Galaxy Book3 360 (was £966, now £679)
Samsung’s non-Pro laptops are almost as nice as their premium ‘Pro’ siblings but much better value. This 15.6in Galaxy Book3 360, for instance, usually averages around at a reasonable £966 and is currently on sale at a highly tempting £679. The Book3 Pro 360 usually costs £1,550 and is also on sale at £999.
It comes with a 360-degree hinge so you can fold the screen all the way around and use it as a giant tablet. There’s a stylus in the box and the specification is respectable for the money: you get an Intel Core i5-1340P processor, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD for storage. The only downside? It doesn’t come with the same 2.8k OLED display its Pro brethren have, although its Full HD Super OLED screen is still pretty good. All-in-all, it’s a cracking laptop and this is the lowest price we’ve seen on this laptop yet.
4. Acer Swift Edge OLED (Was £1,200, now £700)
The Acer Swift Edge was already one of the best value laptops around at its usual price of £1,099 but now that Acer has reduced the price by £500 to £699, it’s INSANELY good value. For your money, you’re getting a glorious 16in, 3,840 x 2,400 resolution OLED display, and this variant comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 6600U CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. That’s a stunning deal.
5. HP Pavilion x360 14 (was £799/£699, now £499/£399)
This Black Friday HP has slashed the price of its Pavilion 360 convertibles, knocking £300 off both the Core i5-1315U 256GB and the Core i5-1335U 512GB models, bring them down to £499 and £399 respectively.
Both variants have a 14in Full HD IPS touchscreen and 8GB of RAM, plus there’s a B&O engineer speaker system to keep your ears happy. The cheaper model comes with Windows 11 S Mode but changing that to full Windows 11 is very straightforward.
6. Acer Predator Helios 300 (was £1,899, now £1,099)
This is the 2022 model Acer Predator Helios 300 but it’s still a potent performer and comes with a 150W RTX 3070 GPU and an Intel Core i7-12700H. It’s currently on sale for a mere £1,099, which is a massive £800 off the original RRP. That’s ludicrously good value for money, especially when you also get a 2,560 x 1,440 165Hz display, a 1TB SDD and 16GB of RAM, and don’t forget you can easily add more of both if you have a screwdriver to hand.
7. Dell G15 5530 (was £797 avg, now £699)
The Dell G15 5530 proves that you can a modern gaming laptop for less than £700. Yep, you read that right: £699 and with surprisingly few gotchas, too. Amazon has the RTX 3050 mode of this laptop on Black Friday sale at the moment, which is a not inconsiderable 25% discount from the average price of £797. The RTX 3050 isn’t powerful enough to allow you to play AAA titles with all the settings turned up, but it will cope perfectly fine at lower settings. Our only concern is that it comes with a mere 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, but you can upgrade both yourself after you’ve bought it and for not much extra.
8. Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra (was £2,343 avg, now £1,999)
The Galaxy Book3 Ultra is Samsung’s flagship laptop and comes with some seriously high-end hardware: one of the best 3K OLED displays you’ll ever see, a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700H CPU, and an Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU for hefty creative workloads and even a bit of gaming after work.
We thought it a touch overpriced at its launch price of £2,499 but it’s now been reduced to a far more palatable £1,999. It’s the closest thing to a MacBook Pro you can get in a Windows machine but without the stellar battery life.
9. HP Envy x360 15 (was £1,099, now £599)
At nearly half the price it normally is, the 15.6in Envy x360 is a fantastic bargain. This convertible 2-in-1 comes with a large, bright, 15.6in Full HD OLED touchscreen and a Bang & Olufsen speaker system, which makes it a superb laptop for streaming video. And it’s on offer at the Currys Black Friday sale for a mere £599, which is a huge discount on the previous price of £1,099.
The specification is also pretty impressive for the money, with a 13th Gen Intel Core i5 1335U CPU inside, backed up by 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, so there’s plenty of power and performance to keep things running smoothly. You even get 6GHz Wi-Fi for streaming your favourite shows.
10. Huawei MateBook X Pro 2023 (was £1,799, now £1,299)
The Huawei MateBook X Pro usually delivers a fine balance of premium design, performance and price and this year’s update is no different. It comes with a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1360P processor, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, and combines that with a bright, sharp 14.2in 90Hz 3,120 x 2,080 screen. The 720p webcam is a little disappointing but otherwise, this is very good value for money.
11. LG Gram SuperLight (was £1,441 on avg, now £999)
LG’s Gram laptops are incredibly light for their size and none more so than the SuperSlim model. Despite the fact that it has a large 15.6in Full HD OLED display, the whole thing weighs a mere 990g and, right now, Currys has it on offer for an equally lightweight £999. That’s £600 off the usual Currys price and £412 less than the average Amazon price. That also gets you a laptop that’s up to the minute in terms of its specification, with a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1360P CPU running the show, 16GB of RAM and a sizeable 1TB SSD. You won’t fine a lighter, more practical laptop for less.
12. Asus Chromebook Plus CX34 (was £400, now £240)
This is one of Google’s new “Plus”-designated Chromebooks, built to a minimum specification so shoppers know they’re getting a machine of a certain quality. That’s certainly the case here, and with £160 off the usual price the Asus Chromebook Plus CX34 is a phenomenal bargain. Nowhere else will you find a laptop of equivalent specification for £240 (a 12th Gen Intel Core i3-1215U processor, 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD). It’s a superb deal.
13. Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 15.6in Gaming Laptop (was £1,249, now £899)
The LOQ series of gaming laptops sit below the Legion range but above the IdeaPads in Lenovo’s hierarchy. They are basically plastic Legions with all non-essential features ejected. That means you get 12th-generation Intel silicon, plastic cases and slightly low-rent 144Hz Full HD screens at the bottom of the range.
However, for £899 (a reduction of £350), what you do get is an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 rather than a 4050 GPU, a decent keyboard plus the option to add more storage and memory. And you can expect around seven hours from the 60Wh battery, which isn’t too shabby. The LOQ 15 may not be the most highly specified RTX 4060 gaming laptop on the market, but it’s pretty much the cheapest at this price and is excellent value.
14. HP Pavilion 15 (eh1028na) (Was £699, now £479)
If you want a basic 15.6in laptop you can’t do much better than look at HP’s Pavilion range. Powered by a chipper 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 5700U processor with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, the Pavilion 15 also has a better-than-expected B&O speaker system and a 10Gbits/sec USB-C port, which is far from a granted feature at this price.
The keyboard – complete with a numeric keypad and backlight – isn’t too shabby either. HP’s typical all-silver livery makes the Pavilion look and feel rather more upmarket than the price tag would suggest. It’s relatively light, too, at just 1.75kg. For under £500 in Very’s Black Friday sale, you can’t go far wrong.
15. M3 MacBook Pro 14in (was £1,699, now £1,569)
Apple’s latest MacBook Pro laptops have only just gone on sale but Amazon has already reduced them in price – twice! In all honesty, these aren’t the biggest discounts you’ll see this Black Friday but probably the best you’ll see on the latest Apple machines. Our pick of the bunch is on the 14in model with 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD which sees the price reduced by £99 to £1,569 but the price has also been cut on the 8GB/1TB model and the M3 Pro MacBook Pros.
16. Asus Vivobook 14 X1400EA (was £469, now £379)
Another laptop that fits our “buy Intel Core CPUs where possible” mantra, the Asus Vivobook 14 has been reduced to a very tempting £379 in the AO Black Friday sale. This PC usually sells for around £469 at Amazon, so this represents a significant £90 saving and it packs in the specification, too. You’re getting a Windows laptop here with an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 CPU, there’s 8GB of RAM, which is fine at this price, and an impressively capacious 512GB SSD as well. Battery life is only rated at six hours and the display is a basic Full HD effort but, otherwise, this is a pretty decent specification for the money.
17. Asus Vivobook Go (was £600, now £450)
This laptop is part of Asus’ budget “Go” range of laptops but don’t be fooled by the low price. It comes with a Full HD+ (1,920 x 1,200) OLED display and an impressive array of internal components. The CPU is an AMD 7000-series Ryzen 5, and it’s backed up by 8GB of RAM and a large 256GB SSD. With £150 off the previous price, it’s a ludicrously well-priced laptop.
18. Microsoft Surface Pro 9 and a FREE Signature Keyboard bundle (was £1,443 avg, now £899)
Windows 2-in-1 laptops like the Surface Pro 9 are great for both work and play because you can use them like a laptop during the day and then remove the keyboard and use them for watching and browsing in the evening.
The best of these devices is the Microsoft Surface Pro 9, which is currently on offer at the Microsoft Store in a bundle with a free Signature Keyboard.
That gets you the tablet itself, with a 12th Gen Core i5 processor, 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD – a tablet that would normally cost around £1,294 on Amazon without the keyboard thrown in – plus the Signature keyboard for only £899. That represents a massive saving of £544 over the usual price for this bundle.
