Acer Travelmate P6 review

For the most part, the 15.6in display is fine for everyday use. The 1,366×768 resolution is fairly typical for this screen size and price, but it’s still roomy enough for full-screen web browsing or for working on two documents side-by-side. The screen has a huge amount of tilt, as well as a matt panel finish which helps stop light reflections from obscuring your view, but the TN panel means viewing angles are disappointingly average. Colours have a slightly washed-out look because of the panel finish, but contrast is reasonable and brightness is pretty good too.

As a business machine, the Travelmate P6 is well equipped, powerful and long-lasting. The design is restrained, but still sleek thanks to the brushed metal effect lid, and reasonably priced, too – at £608 there aren’t many alternatives that have this much in the way of connectivity. However, it’s not a complete success as the screen is distinctly average and the lack of dedicated graphics may put off anyone looking to use GPU-accelerated programs or play games in their downtime. These people may be better off looking at the AMD Trinity-powered HP Envy 6 Sleekbook instead.
