Pick up an AncestryDNA kit for only £49 this Black Friday
Analyse your ancestry for less with a reduced AncestryDNA testing kit
We called AncestryDNA “the best way to track your heritage”, and now its £30 cheaper thanks for a Black Friday offer from the heritage-tracking company.
The cost of an AncestryDNA kit will normally set you back £79, but for the next week it costs £49. The offer ends on 2 December, so if you’re thinking about checking your own heritage, or buying it as an early Christmas present for someone who might want to, be sure to snap it up.
Once you have the kit, you basically spit in a tube and send it back to the company, which will then run the sample through its records to give you a broad estimation of where your ancestry lies. It’ll also tell you how many of the estimated 15 million Ancestry members who’ve taken the test are related to you, and how closely related they may be related.
From there, you can start to build a family tree. “If you want the really useful stuff – census records, birth and marriage data and so on – you’ll need to pay a monthly subscription of between £10.99 and £19.99 per month, depending on which regions you want,” notes Alan Martin in his review.
“[But] in practice AncestryDNA is quite a compelling package if you’re a keen genealogist. Not only are its family-tree-building tools second to none, but the size of its DNA database means tracking down family members to help is more likely than with its rivals.”
