PS5 launch day has come and gone, but working out where to buy the new console hasn’t gotten any easier. Demand for Sony’s latest gaming machine is unexpectedly high, and after a less-than-organised approach to the initial round of preorders the PlayStation 5 is now incredibly scarce.

As it turns out, this enormous surge in popularity is well-deserved. We’ve spent countless hours rigorously testing the PS5 (it’s hard work) and found that it earns high praise. With a gorgeous new user interface, lightning-fast performance and the best game controller we’ve ever used, the PlayStation 5 is lightyears ahead of its predecessor.

Amazon, Currys PC World, John Lewis, Smyths Toys and Argos all confirmed on 19 November that they will be receiving no stock of the PS5 on launch day or indeed the near future. At the time of writing, the PS5 is out of stock at all major retailers – the only place you can find one currently is on eBay, but we would urge you to steer clear as prices are inflating rapidly.

Where to buy PS5 accessories

Fortunately, it’s still very possible to secure yourself one or more of the new PS5 accessories. For the record, that’s the DualSense controller, DualSense charging station, PS5 media remote, PS5 Pulse 3D wireless headset and PS5 HD camera. Only the camera, the DualSense controller and the DualSense charging stand are consistently available to buy – although we’ve seen other peripherals come and go lately as well.
