Amazon Spring Sale: Get the FIRST-EVER Kindle Scribe deal
The innovative Amazon Kindle Scribe has had its very first discount in the Amazon Spring Sale
This year’s Amazon Spring Sale has already served up some sumptuous deals on the company’s own tech products, but this is a first. The Amazon Kindle Scribe, an excellent e-reader that you can write on, has had its price slashed for the very first time to £285, down from its launch price of £330. It’s a very healthy saving on a game-changing product that was the worthy recipient of four stars out of five in our full review.
We’re big fans of the Kindle Scribe’s beautifully sharp E Ink screen, the intuitive stylus and the useful ability to directly jot notes on Kindle books. As we wrote in our review, “open up a new notepad, pick a template (lined paper, graph paper, checklists and so on), start doodling away and you’ll be amazed at how good it feels”.
However, if you want to experience that feeling for yourself, you’ll have to be quick because the Amazon Spring Sale will end at midnight on Wednesday 29 March.
The Amazon Kindle Scribe sees the firm successfully chasing the digital notepad market, while keeping in place everything that makes Kindle e-readers great. That means it still has access to a vast library of e-books, but the screen has grown to a gigantic 10in (while staying remarkably light at 433g) for a crisp pixel density of 300ppi and there’s now a bundled pen for scribbling on the display.
Neatly, this nifty stylus doesn’t ever need to be charged and feels akin to writing with a felt tip pen on paper, with plenty of satisfying resistance. It’s never going to entirely replicate the process of jotting notes down on a physical pad, but your brain soon forgets that you’re scribbling on a screen. There are a couple of caveats, though: there’s no handwriting recognition that automatically converts your notes into text and you can’t export them for editing elsewhere.
That said, the Kindle Scribe has an ability that Amazon’s rivals can only dream of: writing notes directly onto Kindle e-books. Not every publication is included, but the vast majority are – a major bonus for students or those who like to jot comments in the margins.
You might have guessed that we’re quite excited about the Kindle Scribe, especially at its head-turning new price for the Amazon Spring Sale. It’s not faultless, but it’s a very promising start that will immediately appeal to avid readers and jotters. Once again, just make sure you get in there as soon as possible while this offer lasts.
