Amazon kickstarts its Black Friday sales with the lowest prices yet on its popular Kindle and the Kindle Paperwhite e-readers
November has only just begun but Amazon has already started some bargain Black Friday offers, one of the first being new low prices on its beloved Kindle range, including the Kindle for just £50 and the 32GB Kindle Paperwhite for £80.
Both are great deals to snap up if you’re looking for a good e-reader because the Kindle is £20 cheaper than its £70 price tag, whereas the Kindle Paperwhite has an even-bigger £70 discount.
In our reviews, both the Kindle and the Kindle Paperwhite earned 5 stars and a Best Buy award. The Kindle is cheaper if you’re on a budget, while the Paperwhite is excellent if you travel a lot and are willing to spend a little extra.
Since the 2019 update, the Kindle has proven itself to be more than just a basic e-reader with our review praising its new, sturdier design complete with integrated light and its use of Bluetooth connectivity.
Both the Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite are Audible compatible now, so you can use it to listen to your favourite audiobooks, too, if you want to multi-task. They also both come with three months of Kindle Unlimited, which gives you access to over a million Kindle titles for free.
With so many similarities, it might be difficult to decide which is the best Kindle for you out of the pair. However, unlike the 2019 Kindle, the Kindle Paperwhite is more versatile, thanks to its thinner lightweight design, waterproof casing and impressively long battery life. Unless you’re someone who uses Audible a lot, the Kindle Paperwhite can last weeks without needing a charge.
It’s important to note that the Kindle Paperwhite that’s on offer here is the model that was released in 2018. Amazon have recently released a new, even thinner 8GB model of the Kindle Paperwhite this year. This comes with a larger, brighter display and even longer battery life, but costs £140.
Whether you’re in the market for a new e-reader or looking for that perfect gift for the avid reader in your life, this is an excellent deal to snap up.
