Ford Fiesta Centura launched to celebrate centenary

Ford has announced plans to celebrate its 100th British anniversary with a special edition of its Fiesta, the Centura, which includes around £600-worth of extras alongside the company’s most popular engine choice.

The Ford Fiesta Centura is designed to pay tribute to the first Ford vehicle to be manufactured in the UK, the Model T from 1911. Available in any colour you want, as long as it’s black, the Centura is based on the Ford Fiesta Zetec but includes a wealth of extras, such as metallic paint as standard, chrome mirror and door caps, LED daylight running lights, 16in seven-spoke alloy wheels, automatic headlamps and windscreen wipers, reverse parking sensors, and a parking camera mounted in the rear-view mirror.

The Fiesta Centura will be made exclusively with the 1.25-litre 82PS petrol engine, which Ford claims is the most popular choice for the Fiesta line, and will include both three- and five-door versions.

“Fiesta has been a UK favourite its entire lifetime and it was a natural choice to use this great icon to help mark our centenary,” explained Ford’s Anthony Ireson at the announcement. “With a unique specification and affordable price, the Centura will appeal to thousands of customers, and we anticipate strong demand – who knows it might even become a collector’s car one day!”

The Ford Fiesta Centura will enjoy a limited production run of just 1,000 units, with the three-door priced at £13,395 and the five-door rising to £13,995.
