Volkswagen ditches Polo SE and Moda for Match

Claims new combined trim offers £215 saving

Volkswagen has announced that it is retiring the SE and Moda trim levels of its popular Polo in favour of a new Match model, which it claims will save customers around £215.

The new Polo Match combines the features of the SE and Moda trims that Volkswagen claims were the most popular, and adds in extra specification to compensate for the features that aren’t making the transition. On the outside, the Polo Match features 15-inch ‘Castille’ alloy wheels, front fog lights, and heat-insulating tinted rear windows.

Inside, the Polo Match includes manual air conditioning, an RCD 310 radio/CD player, multifunction computer and multi-device interface with iPod connectivity, electric windows, and a comfort pack which includes remote central locking and electrically adjustable exterior mirrors.

As with the rest of the Polo range, the Match includes four airbags, ABS, and an electronic stabilisation programme for improved safety. As with other trim levels, three and five door models are available.

Buyers opting for a new Polo Match will be given the choice of three engines: a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine pushes 60PS, while a 1.4-litre petrol engine offers 85PS; those looking for diesel will have the option of a 1.2-litre engine offering 75PS. All models are fitted with a five-speed manual transmission, while the 1.4-litre petrol model also has the option of a seven-speed DSG.

The Polo Match is available from today, with prices starting at £11,300 and rising to £14,385 depending on model and features chosen.
