The brand new Kindle Paperwhite is already £25 off for Black Friday
Amazon's latest Kindle Paperwhite is on offer for the FIRST TIME this Black Friday
In the market for a new ebook reader? The Kindle Paperwhite should be top of your list: immeasurably better than the basic Kindle, and far cheaper than the ostentatious Kindle Oasis. But now it’s even better value than usual. It’s only been out for a few weeks, but Amazon has chopped £25 off its RRP, with both the ad-free and ad-supported versions benefiting.
The former normally goes for £140, but is yours for £115, while the latter typically sells for £130 but can be had today for just £105. (The adverts are pretty minor, only appearing on the lock screen when not in use — it’s up to you whether that’s worth a £10 saving to you or not.
Both of these Kindles can be enhanced further with a free three-month Kindle Unlimited subscription, but remember that after the trial expires you’ll be on the hook for a £7.99/mth fee. You can, of course, cancel at any time if it doesn’t appeal that much.
As for the Kindle Paperwhite itself, it’s another refinement of an already excellent product. I was the one tasked with reviewing it for Expert Reviews earlier this month, and I was mightily impressed with its new larger screen and faster performance.
As I still had the 2019 review unit, I was able to see first hand exactly how much more responsive it was and the overall better reading experience it offers. Plus, at long last, we finally have a Kindle with USB-C support!
“If there’s one thing Amazon knows how to do well (and clearly there’s plenty), it’s making a good ebook reader, and the new Paperwhite excels even by the company’s own high standards,” I wrote in the aforementioned review. “Amazon-only library aside, the only thing you can really complain about is the £10 price increase, which isn’t unreasonable with three years’ of inflation to factor in.”
With this Black Friday deal knocking £25 off the price, the latter isn’t even a concern any more. It’s a great price for a great product.
