Cyber Monday: A fistful of bargains

The Pixel 8 Pro (below) is easily my favourite smartphone deal overall this Black Friday and Cyber Monday but there have been several other offers that are just as enticing if that phone doesn’t float your boat. These are the best offers that are still available in these closing hours of Cyber Monday:

Still time to get the best deal of Black Friday and Cyber Monday

It’s nearly time for me to call it a Cyber Mon-day but before we close the curtain completely, I want to wrap things up with a quick stock check of all the best deals that you can still buy right now. I’ve looked at dozens upon dozens of deals from all across the web these last few weeks and none of them have come close to be as much of a surprise as this ridiculously good offer on the Google Pixel 8 Pro.

From its exceptional cameras to its extensive software support, the Pixel 8 Pro is still a fierce competitor for this year’s phones and, for my money, you’re better off snatching this deal up than going with anything from 2024. It’s down from an average price of £841 to a record-low of £499, saving you over £350 on one of the best smartphones from last year.

Stock alert: Motorola Razr 50 Ultra at John Lewis

The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is now out of stock at Amazon but that doesn’t mean you’ve missed your chance to get this excellent flip phone for its lowest price to date. Swing over to John Lewis instead where all three colours are still in stock.

The Midnight Blue variant is nearly gone there too, so you’ll need to be quick if that’s the colour you fancy. It’s worth noting that the Midnight Blue version is also the most expensive, sticking with the £749 deal price, while both the Spring Green and Peach Fuzz models are further discounted down to the record-low of £699.

Save on the 256GB iPhone 15 Pro refurbished

If you want to get more storage space with the iPhone 15 Pro, the good news is that the 256GB model is actually cheaper than the 128GB model at BackMarket. Where the latter is going for £850 in excellent condition, the 256GB variant can be snatched up for £833 in the same condition. Compared to the £999 price of buying the phone new, that’s a bargain.

The best way to get an iPhone 15 Pro right now

There’s a curious omission among the stalwart smartphone regulars of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales – the iPhone 15 Pro is missing in action. With no tantalising deals to be found in most places, and only the extremely expensive 1TB model available for contracts in others, it can feel like your only option is to buy one at full price through Amazon.

Before you pull the trigger on that, however, I’d like to bring your attention to BackMarket, where you can pick up a refurbished iPhone 15 Pro in excellent condition for £850. Compared to buying new (£999 currently) that’s a decent discount. Personally, I’d go one step further and pick up a good condition model for the bargain price of £710. That classification means that it shows minor signs of use but, for the sake of another £140 off, I’d be happy to overlook the odd scuff or two.

A bargain way to kick off Cyber Monday

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion sitting on an open comic book with the display on

We’re in the home stretch now, folks, but that doesn’t mean that the deals are done. We’re starting the Cyber Monday train in a very positive place, with a further discount on one of my most recommended deals.

The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion was already a bargain at its previous deal price of £279, getting you a fantastic mid-range phone for budget prices, but checking on it this morning, I see that the deal has been sweetened even further, dropping it down to a new record-low of £251. I can’t see it dropping any lower this year so this one is worth snatching up with both hands.

The five-star Google Pixel 8a is still available at a ludicrously low price

If you’ve got a similar amount to spend to what Back Market is asking for a refurbished iPhone 13 but what a brand spanking new Android handset, the Google Pixel 8a is the phone to buy.

My colleague Ben reported an all-time low price on it a couple of weeks back and it’s even cheaper today, with the Obsidian 128GB model available on Amazon for a mere £352. That’s a blinding price for a five-star Best Buy and one I’d 100% be taking advantage of were I not so locked into the iOS ecosystem.

Nab a refurbished iPhone 13 for under £300

Tech Editor Andy White stopping by for a relatively brief Sunday deals sesh. The iPhone 13 wasn’t our favourite Apple phone in recent years but, if like me, you don’t need the newest, shiniest handset, it’s an affordable and appealing iOS option.

You can pick the 128GB model new from Amazon for £441 in either Starlight or Midnight, the lowest price we’ve ever seen it listed for by the retail giant. But I’d be inclined to head over to Back Market and grab a refurbished model for £299. That’s for one in “Fair” condition, so it will have a few signs of wear and tear, but a lot of people, myself included, can live with that for the sake of saving the best part of £150.

This Pixel 9 contract is cheaper than buying the phone outright

Voxi is our current favourite mobile network and, right now, it’s running a bargain offer on the Google Pixel 9. While you’re looking at £776 to buy the phone from Amazon, get it through Voxi and it’s just £522 – a long as you’re buying a Voxi SIM with it.

You can choose to pay that off in one go or in 12, 24 or 36 monthly instalments, with no additional interest for choosing a monthly plan. The best SIM to pair it with is the £10/mth option, which currently offers quadruple data (80GB, up from 20GB). If you choose to pay that over 24 months, for instance, it’s £31.75/mth. The total lifetime cost of £762, which is still cheaper than buying the phone SIM-free through Amazon.

Or, if you prefer a lower upfront charge…

If that £199 upfront charge is just too rich for your blood, the good news is that you don’t have to miss out on this excellent Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra deal. There’s another option on that deals page that shuffles the cost to charge just £9 upfront, with monthly payments going to £39/mth.

This isn’t quite the bargain that the below deal is, but it’s still better value than buying the phone SIM-free, with a lifetime cost of £945. And once again, you’re getting a hefty 500GB of monthly data from iD Mobile.

The best way to get the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra review - Phone rear up on a book

While I’ve mentioned below that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is discounted SIM-free, that’s not the best-value way to buy one right now. This deal from Carphone Warehouse works out cheaper over the course of the 24-month contract, and gets you tons of data thrown in the mix, too.

The iD Mobile offer gets you the phone with a massive 500GB of data for £199 upfront and £30/mth thereafter. That’s definitely a hefty upfront charge but the lower monthly premiums make the lifetime cost just £919. That’s cheaper than the £999 deal price of buying the phone SIM-free and this way, you get all that data as well as the shiny new phone.

The best iPhone deal around

iPhone discounts aren’t generally as big and exciting as some Android alternatives but if you shop right, you can still get a good deal, even on the latest models. This offer through Carphone Warehouse gets you the brand-new iPhone 16 Pro with a massive 500GB of data from iD Mobile for £129 upfront and £39/mth thereafter.

That adds up to a lifetime cost of £1,065 over the course of the two-year contract, which is just £96 more than the current price of buying the iPhone 16 Pro SIM-free. In other words, you’re getting a huge 500GB of monthly data for just £4 per month.

The biggest phone bargain under £300

If £500 is a little out of your price range, I recommend you look no further than the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion. This excellent mid-ranger blew me away with its flawless display, dynamic main camera, excellent battery life and speedy fast charging. It was already a bargain at its original price but this deal brings it down from the average of £336 to a record-low of £279.

This is still the best smartphone deal of Black Friday

google pixel 8 pro review

The sun is starting to set on Black Friday and new deals are drying up, so let’s have a look back and highlight the biggest bargains we’ve found. First up, we’ve got the unbeatably good value of the Google Pixel 8 Pro, which is down from an average price of £841 to a ridiculously cheap £499.

For that, you’re still getting flagship quality cameras, extensive software support and a gorgeous, colour-accurate display – in other words, this is a bargain. Our Production Editor already snagged one for himself and I recommend that anyone else looking to pick up a fantastic phone for under £500 follow suit.

Renewed bargains on older flagship phones

If the deals we’ve got here are still too high for your liking, you can get even bigger bargains by going with a refurbished phone. BackMarket is running its own Black Friday sale, with great prices on some of the biggest and most popular smartphones from previous years. Here’s a few of my favourite deals:

Pair your new phone with a bargain SIM-only deal

Voxi is our current favourite mobile network and Black Friday is one of the best times to try it out. This deal offers a massive four times the data, giving you 80GB of monthly data for just £10/mth. On top of that, you get Voxi’s standard perk of unlimited social media use without eating into that data, allowing you to scroll, watch reels and send messages across Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest and X (formerly Twitter) without using up your monthly data.

Sony’s Xperia 1 VI flagship is now cheaper than ever

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is a fully featured flagship phone with a gorgeous display, excellent battery life and a particularly powerful telephoto camera. Usually, this top-end handset averages around £1,242 but this Black Friday deal sees it dip down to just three figures, hitting the rock-bottom price of £999.

Save hundreds on this super-slim foldable phone

Honor Magic V3 in hand, unfolded with the internal display on

The Honor Magic V3 is an incredibly skinny full-size foldable, opening out to just 4.35mm in depth. It’s the most comfortable to use foldable phone that I’ve personally tested thus far and still managed to impress with its excellent displays, decent battery life and speedy charging, too.

This discount, only available by ordering directly from Honor, is the cheapest way to get a Magic V3 right now, taking off a massive £400 from the asking price, bringing the hefty £1,700 premium down to a more manageable £1,300. To get the discount, just enter the code AV3NO400 at checkout.

Samsung’s brand-new Galaxy Z Fold 6 is now cheaper than ever

Full-size foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 are consistently the most expensive handsets that you can buy, to the point where I’d recommend waiting for deals periods if you’re considering buying one. Well, the deals period is here and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is discounted.

All storage variants are included in the sale but the cheapest is naturally the 256GB model, which has dropped from an average price of £1,624 down to £1,399 – its cheapest price yet. That’s still quite the sum but for a book-style foldable that’s only been out for a handful of months, it’s a downright bargain.

Forget Amazon – you can get the Google Pixel 8 Pro for a steal elsewhere

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve highlighted the excellent discount that you were able to get on the Google Pixel 8 Pro at Amazon. It looks like either stock has finally run dry or the deal has ended but the good news is that the same can’t be said for all retailers.

Hop over to John Lewis, for instance, and you still have the chance to snatch up this fantastic phone for the low price of just £499. That’s still the cheapest that we’ve ever seen the Pixel 8 Pro and a massive chunk off the average price of £841.

It’s worth noting that Amazon’s cupboards turning up bare is probably a portent of things to come, so definitely get in quick before John Lewis and all the others run out of stock, too.

Best price yet on a five-star mid-range phone

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro review

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro was our favourite of the three Redmi Note handsets released earlier this year, offering better value for money than either of its siblings. Now, a Black Friday discount has made it all the more of a bargain, bringing the price down from an average of £290 to a record-low of £229.

This folding phone is crazy cheap right now

Admittedly, calling £799 cheap is fairly wild, but in the realms of full-sized foldable phones that regularly nudge closer to £2,000, that is a fantastic price. The Honor Magic V2 usually averages around £1,102, so this deal price is a decent drop, and one of the cheapest ways to nab yourself a large-screen foldable phone.

One of my favourite mid-range phones of 2024 is now dirt-cheap

My reaction to the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion was nothing short of astonishment. I’ve liked handsets in the Edge range before but the sheer value for money offered by the Edge 50 Fusion blew me away. At its original price, I proclaimed it the best sub-£400 phone that I’d tested this year, and now it’s even cheaper than that. Previously averaging £336, you can now pick up the excellent Motorola Edge 50 Fusion for the record-low price of £279.

The best flagship phone for small hands just plummeted in price

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is a pocket powerhouse. Despite its diminutive dimensions, this little beauty delivered excellent results in our performance tests, with nippy CPU speeds and Herculean stamina in the battery life testing. Add to that all the Galaxy AI toys of its bigger siblings and you’ve got the proverbial good thing that comes in a small package.

Having previously averaged around £765 in price, the Galaxy S24 has now dropped down to a record-low of just £599. That’s a fantastic price for such a powerful phone, so if you prefer a more manageable handset over big-screened behemoths, this is the deal for you.

This contract is the best way to get the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL in hand, rear view, geometric grey cushion in the background

The brand-new Google Pixel 9 Pro XL can currently be picked up on a bargain contract at Carphone Warehouse. This is the same deal that we’ve seen with other top-end handsets below, getting you a massive 500GB of data from iD Mobile for £30/mth and £129 upfront.

That’s quite the chunk of change to drop in advance but, if you can stomach it, those £30/mth charges only bring the total to £849 over the 24 months. Not only is that a good deal cheaper than the £1,099 retail price of the Pixel 9 Pro XL, it’s also cheaper than the Black Friday discount price (£999). This is essentially like getting the phone for a discount and having 500GB of monthly data thrown in for no additional cost. If you’ve had your eye on Google’s latest big-screened handset, this is the deal for you.

Best price ever on the Google Pixel 7a

Last year’s top mid-ranger, the Google Pixel 7a, has joined in the Black Friday fun, dropping down to its lowest price on record. Previously averaging £367, this pocket beauty is now just £296. That only beats the previous best by a couple of pounds but it’s still an excellent deal on an impressive mid-range phone. The OnePlus Nord 4 hits a new rock-bottom price

I only reviewed the OnePlus Nord 4 a few months ago but it’s not too new to get in on the Black Friday sales. Since launching, the Nord 4 has averaged £397 in price but this deal sees it drop down to a new record-low of £349. That’s not a massive discount but it’s still a terrific price for the unique metal design, beautiful display and excellent battery life that the OnePlus Nord 4 brings to the table.

Deal update: The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra just got even cheaper

We’ve talked about the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra a couple of times already but there’s been an important update – namely, the price has only gone and dropped even further. Previously averaging £838, and then briefly dipping to the previous record-low of £736, the Razr 50 Ultra has now plummeted to £699, its new lowest price ever. I don’t see it dropping any further than this so, if you fancy trying out a flip phone and want the best one around, this is the deal to snatch up.

The OnePlus 12 kicks off Grey Friday with a record-low deal

OnePlus 12 - rear

It’s one week until the big day and the deals are really pouring in now. The excellent OnePlus 12 is our first port of call today, with this massive discount on the top-end model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Previously averaging £869, it’s now going for just £699 – the cheapest we’ve ever seen it on Amazon.

The 12/256GB variant is also on offer, and once again at a record low, but it’s only down to £649. For the sake of the extra £50, I’d recommend scooping up that extra RAM and storage space.

Samsung’s new flip phone is now cheaper than ever

I’ve already spoken on my favourite flip phone deal below but the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is a hell of a silver medalist. Performance is excellent, the cameras are exquisite and you get the same seven years of software support as the brand’s non-folding flagship phones.

Best of all, this Black Friday deal sees the price drop down to a record low of £849. That’s a hefty chunk off the average price of £1,013 and even cheaper than the £949 deal price that it was in the October Prime Day sale.

Marvellous mid-ranger back to its rock-bottom price

If the Galaxy S24 Ultra is a little rich for your blood, this next one may be of more interest. The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G was already a very competent mid-range smartphone at its original price, but this deal sees the price plummet down into budget territory, upping the value for money considerably.

The price usually averages around £311 but, for Black Friday, the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is going for just £239 – the same record-low price it was during the Summer Prime Day sale.

Big savings on our favourite phone of 2024

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra - Front view, in hand

Samsung has dropped a second wave of Black Friday deals, including a hefty discount on its high-end flagship phone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This powerhouse currently tops our best smartphone list and, while this discount isn’t quite the cheapest it’s ever been, it’s still big enough to shout about.

The 256GB model usually averages £1,174 in price but this Black Friday deal sees it drop down to £999. It was a little cheaper, at £949, during the Summer Prime Day sale, so it’s worth bearing in mind that it may yet get a small further discount when the actual Black Friday arrives. If you’re more concerned about stock levels than saving a further £50, however, this deal is worth snatching up.

Get an iPhone 16 Pro with tons of data for less

Just like the standard iPhone 16 deal that we looked at below, you can also get a decent price on the iPhone 16 Pro with Carphone Warehouse – as long as you’re willing to put down a chunk upfront. This iD Mobile deal gets you the phone with a huge 500GB of data for just £40/mth, with the only caveat being the fairly hefty £149 upfront fee.

That’s a lot to put down initially but it pays off when you add up the total cost to see that you’re paying £1,109, which is just £120 more than buying the phone outright. In other words, you’re paying just £5/mth for 500GB of data over the course of the 24-month contract.

This Pixel 9 contract is insanely good value

Google Pixel 9 review

It’s a new week and we’re that much closer to the big day. We’re kicking this week off with a couple of excellent contract deals on this year’s biggest phones, starting with the Google Pixel 9. This offer from Carphone Warehouse gets you a massive 500GB of data from iD Mobile for just £9 upfront and £26/mth thereafter.

Over the 24-month contract, that’s a total output of £633, which is not only less than the £799 retail cost of the phone, it’s also cheaper than the £699 Black Friday deal price that the handset is currently going for. That means you’re getting a discount on the phone and effectively not paying anything for the masses of data, making this a fantastically affordable way to pick up a new Pixel.

Ridiculously good value on this unique mid-range phone

On the cheaper end of the spectrum, we’ve got another rock-bottom price to crow about, this time for the Nothing Phone (2a). Recap: The best Black Friday phone deals so far

Thing have slowed down a bit towards the end of the week, with no big new deals unveiled. As such, let’s take this opportunity to look back and check in on the week’s biggest bargains.

First up, we have what I consider to be the best offer on any Google phone going right now: The Google Pixel 8 Pro is currently discounted to just £499. Not only is that a massive chunk off the average price of £841, it’s also the cheapest that this phone has ever been.

Considering that the cameras are still excellent and the phone got set for seven years of updates (only one of which has now passed) the Pixel 8 Pro is still well worth considering for your next phone, and this deal is the best way to get one.

Google Pixel 8 hits rock-bottom price for Black Friday

DON’T buy this Nothing Phone (2a) Plus deal

Quick pit stop for an anti-recommendation here. I reviewed the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus recently and rated it just two stars, calling it “a big nothing”. Switching over to Motorola, you can currently grab a ludicrously cheap 5G phone with the Moto G34. I didn’t think much of this when I reviewed it at its original price of £150 but this rock-bottom deal price of £109 is too cheap to pass up. If you want a cheap 5G handset for your kids or even yourself, this is the deal to snatch up.

Save on the excellent mid-range Samsung Galaxy A55 5G

Next up, we’ve got a solid discount on the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G. Previously averaging £372 in price, the Galaxy A55 can now be picked up for just £339. That’s not a massive discount – and it was cheaper than this during the Summer Prime Day – but if you’re looking for a capable mid-ranger at a keen price, this is still well worth checking out.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus hits rock-bottom price

It’s a very Samsung kind of deals day today and we’re kicking off with the big-screened Galaxy S24 Plus. This phone started at £999 when we reviewed it and has since averaged around £899 for the 256GB model. This deal sees the price drop down to just £749 – its lowest price yet and a massive £150 off the average price.

Samsung Galaxy A35 back down to £289

We all know that Amazon and other retailers bump the price of some products up just before a sales event only to bring it back down again a couple of weeks later, claiming massive discounts. That’s happened to a certain extent here – The Samsung Galaxy A35 has been £289 before and not just for a few days here or there. Nonetheless, it’s now back down to that low price, which makes it a good phone with impressive battery life and a strong camera at a fair price.

A brilliant bargain on one of our favourite budget phones

Our mobile phones expert, Ben Johnston, was impressed when he reviewed the Honor 200 Lite in the summer. He didn’t like its performance but loved its long battery life, fantastic main camera and slim, light design. It was great value at £240 when he reviewed it, too, but at £179 it’s a simply unbelievable bargain. If you need a smartphone on the cheap and won’t compromise on battery life or camera quality, this is a brilliant bargain.

Grab a Google Pixel 8a on contract for a song

Google Pixel 8a face down on the edge of a circular table

When we’re working out if a contract deal is any good, we’ll consider many different factors, but the most important one is the total cost of the phone and monthly payments over the full length of the contract versus the cost of buying the phone outright. This contract from Carphone Warehouse, courtesy of iD Mobile ticks all our boxes. Over the two years of the contract you’re getting 500GB of data for £15/mth and an up-front payment of £49 for the phone and the total over two years works out less than buying the phone SIM-free at £499. That, in our book, makes this one a super bargain. The phone’s not half bad, either.

Bag a Moto for less for a limited time

One of the first deals we’ve spotted so far is a nice little discount on this budget Motorola blower: the Moto G14. With an extra  tenner off its recent price of £99, and that price drop of £40 from the original price of £140, it’s quite the bargain. It comes with a 6.5in Full HD+ OLED display and 128GB of storage, twin cameras and a big 5,000mAh battery, it’s the perfect emergency backup phone, or one for the kids.

Grab an iPhone 16 on contract for less

Buy an iPhone outright and you’ll be paying a premium over most Android brands, but if you’re careful about the contract you choose, you can get yourself quite the bargain — like this one from Carphone Warehouse in its early Black Friday deals selection. Pay £159 up front and you get 500GB of data for £30/mth from iD Mobile. Total it all up and the cost to you over the 24 month contract is £879 — that’s only £80 more than the cost of the phone, meaning you’re getting two years of 500GB data for a mere £3.32/mth.
