Brook and Wilde faces winding-up petition amid claims of unfulfilled orders

Bedroom brand Brook and Wilde is facing legal action

Luxury bedroom products retailer Brook and Wilde is facing a winding-up petition, amidst claims that customer orders, including mattresses and other bedding, are not being fulfilled.

The retailer said in a statement sent to Expert Reviews that it was “informed on Tuesday last week that a winding-up petition has been filed with the High Court”.

A winding-up petition is served when creditors are unpaid and want the court to close down a company. However, the company’s statement said that it considered the winding-up petition “erroneous” and that the unnamed “issuer has been put on notice to withdraw it forthwith so as to avoid unnecessary disruption to the business and a proposed restructuring, which we should be concluded [sic] early next week”.

Unhappy customers

Expert Reviews has been contacted by several unhappy customers of the company, with some claiming they haven’t been sent goods or received a refund for orders placed as far back as January.

That echoes a growing chorus of concern online, where many Brook and Wilde customers claim they’ve been left out of pocket.

“I am still waiting for a mattress I ordered 27th March 2023,” writes one of the company’s customers on TrustPilot. “Keep getting excuses for the delay such as a problem with their delivery partners. Now, after reading that a lot of other people are also having problems with non-delivery of goods ordered and paid for (a long time ago!) I have come to the conclusion that I am never going to receive the mattress I ordered, so I have cancelled the order and requested a refund.”

Another unhappy customer tells a similar tale. “Just like many others, still awaiting an order two months later. Unable to make any contact via phone to request a refund and email responses are generic updates with the same info weeks apart: ‘we will update in two weeks’.”

Although the Brook and Wilde website is still active and appears to be taking new orders, the company’s customer support line is unobtainable.

The company was asked to comment on reports of unfulfilled orders and its inactive customer support line, but has so far declined to do so.
