HannsG HT231HPB review

Ports are all located on the side of the monitor, making them very easy to reach. Here you’ll find VGA, DVI and HDMI inputs as well as a USB port to enable the touchscreen and separate headphone and microphone jacks.

The touchscreen itself was a joy to use. Multi-touch gestures such as two-finger scrolling and pinch zooming all worked perfectly, and swiping from the side to bring up the Windows 8 Charms bar and switch between windows was completely effortless thanks to its frameless bezel. We had to tap icons and files quite firmly when navigating the desktop, but on the whole we were able to open and close files and windows accurately with no trouble at all.

The only part of the HT231HPB we didn’t like was its fiddly menu buttons. These are located on the rear of the screen, making it difficult to tell which button you’re pressing, and we found them particularly frustrating to use when we were trying to navigate the menu settings.

The HannsG GT231HPB isn’t the greatest monitor out of the box, but if you’re willing to tweak the image settings, this is easily one of the best 23in touchscreens we’ve tested. It’s cheaper and easier to use than most other budget touchscreens we’ve tested and we much prefer it to the similarly priced Iiyama Prolite T2452MTS. It wins a Budget Buy award.
