Roccat Kone + review
It has tons of buttons, is comfortable to hold and accurate, but it's expensive.
Getting the most from your first-person shooter skills requires a dedicated gaming mouse, which are more precise and smoother to use than a regular desktop version.
For its Kone +, Roccat has taken its original Kone gaming mouse and improved it no end. It uses the same comfortable, rubberised finish, which makes grabbing it more comfortable, but the weight doesn’t fall out of the bottom any more, and the wheel and buttons have been beefed up. In fact, build quality has been improved throughout, although the two front anti-friction pads are smaller than the original.
The mouse is big, well-shaped and has all the buttons you could ever need. All of them, including the scroll wheel can be assigned two functions, including macros, with the EasyShift[+]button letting you select which function you want to use.
A 6,000 dpi laser provides accurate tracking, and two easily accessible buttons behind the wheel let you switch DPI settings on the fly. This is perfect for moving between fast reactions and slow, but accurate sniping.
It’s a tough decision to shell out over £60 for a mouse, however. Personal preference with regard to shape and size are a big factor, so if possible, try before you buy. The CM Storm Sentinel Advance has similar features, but costs at least £20 less.
