Gigabyte Aire M93 Ice review

The Gigabyte Aire M93 Ice is a rechargeable wireless mouse that’s made for right-handed users. The mouse is certified to work on a variety of surfaces, including glass, wood, leather, smooth stone, cloth, ice and even your sofa. As well as our desk and mouse mat, we tried it out on a glass surface and, unlike many mice, it worked perfectly well. It was less happy working on a laminated cardboard box, so there are limits to the mouse’s versatility.

The mouse comes with a USB Wi-Fi dongle and a USB cable to recharge it with your PC. There are five main buttons and the two on the side can be programmed to do whatever you like once you’ve downloaded the software from Gigabyte’s website. Below the scroll wheel is a button that lets you adjust the mouse’s DPI sensitivity between 1,200 and 2,000dpi, so you can easily up the sensitivity when you want to play a first-person shooter, for example. The mouse also has a free-scrolling button; if you hold this down, moving the mouse up, down and sideways will pan around your current application.

We found this feature was a too sensitive to be easy to use, and it also seems slightly redundant when the tiltable scroll wheel performs a similar function at a more manageable speed.

On the whole, we got on well with the Aire M93 Ice regardless of which DPI setting we chose, and its well-positioned thumb groove made it comfortable to use for long periods of time. However, we found the mouse did freeze occasionally when we tried to make smaller, more precise movements, such as closing tabs and minimising windows, which made it a bit frustrating to use. The Gigabyte Aire M93 Ice is a decent mouse that won’t break the bank, but its occasional stuttering holds it back from an award.
